Anyone ever try one of them 6.5 Creedmoor's ?

Lol well even though the 6.5 cm are funny I gotta say Ive never seen factory ammo shoot so well in anything else before. Sometimes Ill grab a couple boxes because Im being lazy and it makes me wonder why do I even bother with handloads. This was just a 3 shot 300 yard group with 143 eld x hornady factorys. Not bad!

I read on the internet that they were good for everything from bunny rabbits to elephants at extreme long range. I guess when we start hunting elephants here in KY I'll look into one. LOL

That's a beautiful stock. Who makes it ?

It's by a small company called All Composites. I think they were making carbon fiber race car parts before they started making stocks.

The stock is a little expensive ($2000-$2500) which is probably rich for a lot of people's blood. But it doesn't require bedding, and weighs a pound and a half. I think they are also on sale right now.

I ordered one because I like experimenting with things.

I did some napkin math, and I think I calculated that I could have a rifle that weighs 10 pounds with the scope mounted while still using a 28 inch light Palma countour barrel. Or I can use a Medium Palma barrel and still be below 12 pounds.

In theory I could shoot PRS, F-TR, and hunt big game with the same rifle and a bunch of different barrels. In reality, I might just use my stock for some PRS and hunting. I might try it for a few FTR matches too.

Nice cartridge. Easy load development. Works good in a short action, even with long VLD type bullets. Very nice recoil/performance ratio. Plentiful good quality factory ammo. What’s not to like?

This is pretty common from my Beanland 6.5 Creedmoor. .291”. Five shots.

Not bad for a 12 yard group
:p

I tried one once. I quickly re-chambered it to something better. I have a 6.5x47 and its cheaper to shoot as a reloader. Only $0.47 a pop.

It's just funny to me that the 6.5x47 is so great, but it just couldn't make it big time. It's kind of like an orphan.

It's because it was marketed as a target shooting cartridge for mid-range...which has always been a very narrow group of shooters that have lots of good cartridges to choose from like 6BR and 6XC, as well as 308 Winchester, and probably some lesser known cartridges. For instance, I have one Palma rifle, and 250 pieces of Lapua brass is more than enough to get me through a few years of reloading.

Creedmoor was marketed initially as an NRA Highpower Match rifle cartridge, and then as a replacement for everyone's 308 Winchester AR10s, hunting rifles, and everything else. Being able to buy loaded ammo was a big deal. Being able to duplicate the load was also nice because they put it right on the box.

target_image.jpg IMG_20190721_192117.jpg I decided to put my rifle back into my own stock. That carbon fiber stock is really really good by the way. I shot one in a PRS style match and it was a lot of fun using a rifle that is 5 to 10 pounds lighter than a typical setup.

I wanted to check the zero in the wood stock, and it is definitely a shooter. I like Creedmoor a lot more than either of the 2 260 Remington barrels I had.

I used to joke around with my friends that have them and call it the "6.5 Walk On Water" because there for awhile, the 6.5 CM was almost legendary and from the readings of many, it was almost as if a 6.5 CM could walk on water.

BUT, that is no fault of the 6.5 CM itself. It's kind of like when an athlete is really good and for some reason everyone goes crazy and hypes them up as if they're a Greek God, you always have a certain percentage that automatically hate on them just because they are sick of hearing about how awesome they are.

Now we have the 6.5 PRC, which is the new walk on water cartridge so maybe that'll take some of the heat off of the 6.5 CM.
This very well may be true, but it will be interesting to see what kind of barrel life can be expected from the prc.

Nah. Flash in the pan. Go with 45-70 or 30-06. Maybe a 30-40 Krag. Something with staying power.

I have it on good authority that a rock and a stick has the best staying power, if you're concerned about what will be available in another century's time. :D

I shoot 100 rounds a week. A barrel is a once a year expense for me and I don't car e at all about "staying power".

Fanbois were probably arguing about the rock v stick some years ago.;)
