Anyone else keep getting asked this question?

I have a few every day telling me since they cant buy ammo they want me to teach them to reload. I tell them they can come visit and help load mine or they can get all the stuff and ill definitely show them how. Loaded 1000 223 rounds last nite and all i did was prime the cases.
I call people like that, Little Red Hen Syndrome. Besides, I don't like strangers knowing what I got!

I got a shooting friend interested in reloading , he bought a nice CZ 527 in 223 , can't remember the 3 letters that follow the model but it's a beautiful benchrest rifle , anyway , he's been shooting store bought , wants to get started , let him read my reloading books , showed him my equipment , reloaded some 45acp rounds for me to show him how simple and safe it is and then , this China virus and riots started . Guns and reloading flow off the shelves and remained that way to this day . What a bummer.

Most experienced shooters never ask this question.

It's the one's who ask that question it that you need to be wary of on the range.

I've only been asked once that I can recall, I politely declined and not because of today's shortages although that's reason enough, it's the liability issue.

The NRA still offers classes on reloading at least in my area so I registered, paid, learned both book and hands-on, and I feel I'm better offfor doing so as a new reloader. Yes I had already purchased multiple hard copy reloading manuals plus downloaded some digital ones and read through them but this took any burden off asking anyone else provide hands-on instruction for me. There were two other students in my class of around my same vintage.

A long time friend called Friday and wanted to know where I was getting powder, primers, brass and bullets. He was going to pull his reloading equipment out of mothballs and try to start reloading again after about 30 years. He was really broken hearted when I explained that there was none to be had.
I was able to supply him with enough 9mm factory stuff that he won't have to holler BANG real loud if someone is coming in the front door.

My wife works for a sporting goods store, 2 weeks ago a man bought almost $2,000 worth of reloading equipment. When he was talking about not being able to find ammo he was going to just make it himself. He then got told by another employee good luck finding components. He answered i did not think of that, what you dont have anything? Idiot's.

That's what I've said, bring your components, I'll show you and you do all the cranking, seating, trimming, etc.

A co-worker has talked about learning for about 5 years now.

With what has been going on this year, he asked again. I told him that if he was ready to spend about $600 THAT DAY, then I knew where enough components were for about 2K rounds of 223. I told him if he delayed even one day, it would likely be gone.

He finally got desperate enough to weather the wrath of his spouse for spending $600 without her permission. He nutted up and spent the money that day and has been learning well.

Same answer..................NOPE.

Tried telling everyone I know these days were coming...that they needed to get ready...........very few listened. Even some seasoned shooters I know didn't think this was coming. There are even folks on this forum that STILL haven't caught on to what's coming.

It's TOO LATE now.........at least they have some fancy clubs now instead of firearms. That's all a firearm is without ammo.

I use to get asked quite a bit and the answer was always sorry but I can’t. I would say at least 99% of the folks I enjoy various shooting disciplines with reload and many also cast. I am not interested in casting but I do respect it and think it is pretty nifty.

I tell them no, can't reload and sell you ammo. But I will help you learn and begin by offering them a reloading book, that has diagram and info on reloading and the procedures necessary.
So far, over the years, only one person has followed up on the request.

I've been asked a few times. "Hey, if your loading 9mm (or whatever), load me a couple hundred". Answer is always no, but I'll be happy to teach you, help you get set up, etc. No takers so far.
Lately, I have been telling those who ask, about the component shortages. I dont have enough components to load what I need.
