Anybody using H335 in the 6mm BR?

I am bound and determined to get my BR to shoot the 87 vmax. It really hates Varget with that bullet, so thought about H4895 or H335 b/c I have lots of it on hand. Anybody try these powders with the vmax?

I sure wish Berger made a 6mm varmint bullet. This rifle really loves the 90 match bullet.

I use 29.0grs of H4895 with the 87gr v-max in my Savage 6BR.
I also seat 5 thou in. Play with seating depth and see what works best. Be Safe,Have fun.

I used RL-15 for best accuracy in the 6BR with the 87gr V-Max and because it was such a stiff load I am not sure I should post it. I've been wrapped up in Dashers for several years and don't shoot the 6BR barrel anymore. I've used H-335 to the tune of 31.5grs to drive some 80gr bulk Winchesters I use for fire forms with good results but that is probably too hot for a standard 6BR as Hodgden loads for H-335 and an 85gr pill range from 24.5-26.5 grs. I also had poor results with Varget though others swear by it.
About the 87 V-Max, I'm not sure it is the optimum bullet for the little 6BR I like it in a stiff loaded Lapua .243 but I believe that a faster 80gr Nosler Varmint bullet is a better
choice and if you are going to be shooting alot of rounds the 80 gr bulk Winchesters are cheap, $129.36/1000 at Powder Valley.

Thanks. I'll add some 75 vmax to my next order. I just like the 87 ballistic coefficient. Not looking for big splat factor, just something safe.

I had some grand ideas about the 87 grain bullet in my Encore. The best I could do was not pretty. I gave up and now shoot 58-80 grain bullets with complete satisfaction.

I'm done with them too. Best I can get is not good enough for me. Next stop, 75 vmax. If those don't do better, I'm going with light weight bergers.

I can't say why, but the Hornady 87s did not shoot particularly well in my 6BR, which has a demonstrated very accurate PacNor barrel.

But, it will shoot the Berger 88s into the threes and fours, and it LOVEs the Berger 80s, which shoot tiny little bugholes--high ones and low twos.

I'll admit I didn't try many seating depths with the 87s because the Bergers shot tight right from the Get Go.

The 87gr Vmax's won't shoot that well in any of my rifles so I sent them to Ohio, and darned if his Encore 6mmBR wouldn't shoot them either... We both like the 80 grain Fowlers, to bad they are really hard to get, if at all 'O,

I shot a fair bit of H335 in my 6BR and 87gr Vmax. It worked well but was dirtier then extruded powders,H322, H4895) and needed a magnum primer for best results. I used CCI 450 and got rid of hang fires immediately.

Thing to watch for is changes in your load due to temp. H335 will change with temp so if you have a finicky barrel, you need to adjust for ambient temp.

I got a bunch of pull down and Hodgdon powder. Was very happy when it got used up cause I hated having to dance around the load every change in season. It did shoot very well and metered superbly.

Jerry was the surplus powder you had W735? I find that it is a little slower than H335.

This was a while ago so lots vary. Mine was sold as H335 but came in a generic container. I also bought some cannister H335 and it worked the same.

I have had some WCC pull down that was faster then H335. Burnt more like H322. Still heavy with deterent and I had to use the 450 primers for best results.

I have seen the WCC735 listed but have no interest in using this stuff anymore.

Prefer to shoot Hodgdon Extreme extruded powders. Just don't do high volume shooting to worry about the slightly higher cost. I feel the temp stability, cleaner burning and accuracy worth the extra pennies per bang.

For the 87gr Vmax, I think Benchmark might just be the ideal powder lit with a CCI BR4. Not much experience with the Fed205M but expect it will work well too.
