Anybody use a 180gr VLD's in 7mm Rem Mag

Looking to see if anybody had any sucess shooting Berger 180gr VLD's in a 7mm Remington Magnum ?? Also 175gr loads.

Yes the 180's in a 7mm Mag work great. I have shot them in a few different 7 Mags. Pet load is 70.5 gr Retumbo Fed 215 Winchester Brass. Velocity out of a 26" tube is right around 3000fps. I filmed my brother in law shoot a Grizzly in BC last may with them. One shot at a hair over 350 and the bear bounced when it hit the ground. Great bullet for elk as well.

Pet load for 7mm mag and 180g Bergers is 69.5g of Retumbo and WLRM primers. Great long range hunting combo but don't shoot a deer at 75yds or you will have a mess....

I use them too. I hear a lot of people getting close to 3000 fps with them but I don't know how. In two 7 Mags, I have only squeezed 3070 fps out of 160 gr Accubonds with Retumbo and a 26" bbl. With the 180 VLD's I only get 2850 fps before I get pressure signs in both guns. ???

What barrels are you running them in. I have shoot exclusively Broughton in my 7 mags, but have seen some of factory Remington barrels shoot the 180's right at the 3000 mark

One is a factory SPS Remington, the other is a Shilen CM barrel, 1:9 twist. Both 26" length.

I guess this has got a little off track on what I was looking for I not only wanted too know if anybody was shooting them but also wanted to know the loads they were using that performed the best. Thanks
