Anybody buy a lottery ticket?

That's a thought. Couple of drawbacks. Y'all have fire ants. Too close to Beto land and the liberal republic of Austin. I'm thinking somewhere between Ft Worth and Abilene, out on the plains where the wind blows. It wouldn't be a cupcake to shoot.
fire ants everywhere, Austin people afraid of us, and just what is a Beto,,only thing we have to worry about is everything burning up,,

If i win i will be having a couple custom rifles built, how much extra you think it will cost to go to the top of their build list. And will be having me some land with a range. Wonder if i can get a beach house and enough room to shoot 1k?

Unfortunately, playing the lottery is like taking your money to the tax office and giving it to them voluntarily. More unfortunate is that a significant number of people sucked into the lottery game need every dime they can get to just pay bills.

Then again, a guy moved to our town who won something like 10 million. He's living his dream. So, play on.

I will buy a ticket this week. If I win, nephews and nieces and up will get some "skins". Religious institutions, St Jude's and Shriners will get a chunk. My daughter will be rich. Then with a large chunk, I will buy several custom rifles from several gunsmith's and the rest I will waste!!

I read all 4 pages and not one "winner" has stated a large donation to the NRA or a larger donation to keep this site or others like it in operation.
After my family those would be my first contributions, then I'll worry about my toys and my own place to use them.
But to answer the original question no I did not buy any but I will tomorrow- one of each.

Bought one of each. I can see a vacation home with a big ol' 20 room B&B on the property with a few state of the art shooting ranges......And, what the hell....a climate controlled indoor 10 bench 300yd range with a full machine shop, walk in humidor & an over the top BBQ set up.........Just Sayin'......

I will wait for the pots to get really big ;-)

Got $10 worth of tickets for my birthday, but don't expect to win - I win every week by not playing and using the money for something else...

A friend and I play the lottery each week. We have decided to share with each other, but the main thing we want to do if we win is straighten out Africa. It is a shame that there are still people in this world that need help and few give a shit.

It’s been decided we would pay the other an annual amount of 100,000. The rest will be divided amongst investing and drilling wells/teaching agriculture/ basic education on the Dark Continent.

Of course, the odds of winning are slim.

The odds of accomplishing anything that will endure in Africa are also slim. You will join the legions of governments, do gooders, religious entities and other NGOs that have thrown money at a culture that has existed for tens of thousands of years, still exists and has little to no desire nor inclination to change. Drill a well? Sounds noble but what happens when it breaks? Preventative maintenance is a phrase that doesn't exist in their vocabulary. When the pump breaks, it's scrap metal sold for peanuts in some big city and the village is back getting water out of a river. Bill Gates and others of the Guilty Rich are repeating past mistakes and are throwing millions at Africa where a large percentage of that money finds its way in to the Hong Kong bank accounts of their so called leaders. If you think this is BS, read what happened in Zimbabwe when white owned farms were taken and turned over to the locals. The houses and outbuildings were stripped of anything that could be sold, machinery scrapped and sold, the land went fallow and back to nature. Hundreds of years of missionaries setting up schools and teaching children who will never have an opportunity for any job other than rapping livestock on the ass with a stick.

More perspective from a hunter that's BTDT:

"Another is the fundraising for starving people. I was at a farming/irrigation project in Zimbabwe that was successfully supplying corn to the remote village of Chakwalla Kwalla (sp?) for many years. Then it was abandoned in 1974 and left to ruin because of US corn donations. So now rather than farm that land 12 months out of the year, the village men spend most of their time making homemade beer, and babies. And that 4'x4'x4' pallet of condoms delivered with Obama 's picture on the side? Yes, the women are using them to tie their hair...."

Like the guy in the Liberty Mutual insurance TV ad. You might as well throw your wallet in the river.

Like I said... nobody gives a shit. I’ve thought about this for years. It can be done, but it’s got to have a better approach. “Throwing money” is wrong and has been wrong from the word go. If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Narrow mindedness isn’t going to help not one bit though.

I can tell you this though, I’d rather throw my wallet into a river of feeding starving children and promoting education than piss it off on lavish extremities.

In a way I guess I am, but at the moment I live on a fixed income 50% of 1995 wages and a SS pension that was cut over 70% because I have a municipal pension. I also help support my elderly mother who lives at a memory care facility (95 years old), but after the first of the year when BR matches are over and my wife and I figure out a new budget I will change that.
Unless of course I happen to win.
