Any thoughts on the Sartorius AZ153 scale?

There have been a few complaints about the Sartorius AY123 scale bu I haven't heard anything about the more expensive AZ153 scale yet.
Does anyone here know how these scales compare. I would like a GD503 but was trying to save some bucks.

Rod, here's a good reason to spend a little more on a scale that uses magnetic force restoration.

I quote "The AZ153 uses a strain gauge loadcell for the weigh sensor. People wanting to buy the AZ153 we would really recommend you purchase the AZ313 instead since the AZ313 uses a MFR weighing technology. Magnetic force restoration (MFR) balances deliver accurate and consistent weighing results and less prone to all the creep and drift typical of a loadcell especially when weighing to a milligram." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89BOlViQXto&feature=youtu.be

Thanks for this info Ian. It realy does look like $1000 is what we will be spending to get MFR scales. I might looking into packing size and weight between the scales to see which will be better for traveling with.
On one hand we realy dont need to get down to .005 of a grain being realistic. Something which will read .05gn reliably and consistantly without drifting will be all that we would realy need. Anything finer than this would probably just cause excess time and frustration for the negligable gains. Will these scales show any difference on paper copared to a Gen Pro 250 when we are weighig 53-63 gns of powder? What are your thoughts?

Having just recently purchased a higher-end scale, I can attest that there is actually much less frustration and less time required to charge the cases with the new scale. There is also the satisfaction that comes with knowing that all the charges are identical. It is just not the number of decimal places, but the technology used as a previous poster described.

Go with the GD503. You won't regret spending the extra money. I had the AY123 and finally gave up on it because of frustration with the drift and slow settling. I believe to gain any appreciable increase in performance, you have to go with the magnetic force restoration technology.

Buy once - cry once as the old saying goes.

This one from A&D is a magnetic restoration type with 0.02 grain resolution and at $727.50 its a very good price!

It does look good Ian. Not too big for travelling with also.

I discovered that the model I quoted was "Legal For Trade" which we reloaders dont need, we want the same scale without the calibration lock which is the FX120i and its priced at $660. http://balance.balances.com/scales/1223

It makes me smile a little to see a $600-$700 scale considered a "Bargain" 8)
Good point! Its only a bargain compared to the price of the Satorius GD503 which is at $900+ at the moment.

Ian

The GD503 is now $1125.

I went with the GD503 as I don't have any portability issues. Have it setup right next to my MXX-123 and there is no comparison. The FRB is dead on with no drift and a very fast resolution time.

Couple the GD503 with an Omega powder trickler and you are off and running.
