ant problem

I love all of God's creatures, but when they come in the house it is another matter. Last week we had are first rain and now the ant are looking for food. My problem is they are underneath the house. We have just a crawl space and it is not easy to get access to look for them. Any suggestion? Is it Ok to ask this question on this forum main page? nilebartram

why yes it's ok.don't have an answer I think honey or molasses with some chemical may do the trick...get some Talstar it attacks the nervous system of bugs harmless when it dries. you spray it down then the bugs walk on it then it attacks the nervous system..very good for termites. you can get the Talstar at Southern States co op or get it at amazon ebay cheaper a quart will do a whole lot..I think nicotine is the main ing rea di ant
 
I spray windex on them and they seem to die. And son't come back
If possible find the entry point of the critters and make a slurry paste and plug up the hole they come in from
 
The exterminator will not be happy about the crawl space and charge mucho! I do not know if I want to use Talstar in such tight area like this crawl space. More suggestions please.
 
Over the counter Terro Ant Killer is borax. Put the karo syrup-like bait on cardboard. The ants find it, bring it back to the colony and kills the colony. In a crawl space, find where they're moving, place several large dollops around the area. Has always worked for me. Takes a few days.

It's the Ammonia that did it. I noticed an ant farm being built up in the
corner of my driveway. Neighbor told me to get a jug of Austin ammonia
floor stripper and a cheap spray bottle. Made up some sugar water to draw
them out. About 20 minutes later I had a 1 square yard mass of black ants.
Never seen any bug die so fast as these did. Hard to kill the nest though; It
can go down a good many feet. Great contact killer, but ya' need something
that gets carried back to the queen.
 
Any of the permethrin based products (cypermethrin, bifenthrin etc.) will work. The above mentioned Talstar is one example that I use in a sprayer for landscaping around the house and the perimeter of the slab. I use Talstar granules mixed with fertilizer/weeder in a lawn spreader once a year. I use Bifenthrin indoors as it dries clear and the odor in minimal. If you can get a sprayer with a long reach you can spray Talstar into the crawlspace. In that non-precipitation affected area it should be active for at least 6mos. The most effective agent, for visible hills, is a powdered insecticide that has a very offensive odor so not recommended for a crawlspace (I cannot remember the name offhand).

Ants or Aunts!?!
 
458 winchester magnum you may need night vision under the house. Buy ant bait, cut up the box it comes in to 1 inch by 1 inch squares put a drop or 2 on each square and spread them around. repeat after a few days or when you see the bait is gone soon no more ants.
 

3-INGREDIENT ANT KILLER​

MATERIALS​

  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 TBSP borax
  • ⅓ cup sugar

INSTRUCTIONS​

  • Warm up your water then stir in the borax and sugar.
  • Mix until completely dissolved.
  • Soak some cotton balls in it and stick on wax paper or a paper plate near the ants. Watch them swarm and never come back!
  • This worked for me!!
  • You can google homemade ant killers and it will give you recipes
