Another dumb newbie question

I have a lot of items to sell. I have been paying the shipping myself. Now that I about to sell some higher priced items, what is the procedure for requiring the buyer to pay shipping? Is that an estimate or how does the procedure work exactly?

This forum is a lifesaver!
No procedure at all per say. The details of each individual sale is normally worked out between the two members.

I've not sold many items, but I've seen ads where it's stated 'buyer to pay actual shipping costs.' Then ask the buyer how they want it shipped.
If they want to roll the dice and go with the cheapest alternative, I'd remind them of that if it gets lost or delayed.

I have sold well over a hundred items from my friend's estate. Check the cost of the 3 sizes of the USPS flat rate boxes. Also, you can call UPS, give them the weight, zip code address from, zip address to, and Bob's your Uncle. Selling a rifle with shipping and insurance is another animal. Always remove the bbl.

It was much easier to include shipping in the price. Use Pm's to communicate, easy to track and doesn't muck up ad. Use PM'S and for sure phone calls on high dollar items.

Of all the items sold I only had one bad experience. Some moron took the word of a spammer instead of PM ing me or calling....duh...

Any questions PM me.

Get an account with whoever
Fed/Ex
USPS
Enter the weight of item
Enter the Dimensions
Enter how hazardous or not the item is
Enter how quickly you want to ship
-----------------------------------------------
It will give you a price where you can then instantly
Pay with CC Card and Print out label
-----------------------------------------------
Tell customer how much you want to charge for shipping based on this price plus your time and packaging costs etc.

I would pay shipping and ins myself, from 1 payment easier to do than having possibly 2 payments and a lot of back n forth...keep it simple is the best way u pay the ship and ins and u know it's taken care of..if this makes any sense...I like to get done with the deal as fast as possible makes it easy on all involved
