Another cheap barrel

Lotta folks seemed to enjoy the last bunch of bore scoped I did in the $89 6.5 grendel barrel I got a while back. Well dad wanted a a lil something different for around the farm and in the woods so ended up building him a really budget 16" 6mm arc ( he's a bit of a cheapskate and jus tolain won't take anything he finds too nice or expensive I think the woods)and got a barrel from bear creek for $118.
Anyhow here the video , I got book marks telling you where to skip to in the first few seconds.

And the gun it's self before ( built to dads wants and tried giving it a more ....old school kinda paint job, he's a pre 9/11 army vet so tired doing something I thought would fit what he'd be used to )

Can wait to put some rounds though it !

Good deal, I built my daughter a 6.5 GRRRR for deer hunting, the priciest part was the Satern barrel for it, it'll shoot half inch 5 shot groups regularly. Right around 6 in it.

One thing is for sure Wolfdog, you do seem to have alot of fun on a budget. I always enjoy following your projects.
 :D I try lol. Idk why but doing stuff like this is more fun and interesting then using high end expensive stuff , maybe it's because it's a bit more of thrill to get it to work vs when you somone that's supposed to be great works like it's supposed to , like " O you did your job woopie " :D

Sometimes, having a stock rifle or pistol that is less than optimal (off the shelf) with a less that optimal trigger, stock fit, bedding, simple scope, etc. can be interesting and even fun to shoot if you have a mindset of, "let me see what I can do with an off the shelf no upgrades firearm".

I have had a few of these over my 50+ years shooting life and I've been surprised how well they will shoot from a practical hunting point of view. For example, a long time ago I had a used factory 30 06 with a Leupold 4X scope, no upgrades or trigger adjustments - nothing except my reloads. I was able to routinely keep 10 shots in a 5.3 inches circle (bull on a B16 Pistol target) at 200 yards off a cross stick, which more than enough for deer in PA.

Okie dokie put the first few rounds down it today and about what I expected. Need some more time behind this girl and I think a little bit of a better scope would help lol. Started at 50yd. For three rounds ,then 100yd for another three 5rd groups stopping after the first to let the barrel cool

I put my new Burris thermal on the BCA upper purchase, 18" 223 wyde light weight. After some quick load work with a regular scope. TIMG_20240720_205605643.jpghe first 55 gr BK went thru the 40 gr NBT hole, I held slightly low and left for the second 55 gr Sierra BK. I'm very happy with this purchase. 100 yards Burris thermal.

So ended up getting something decent I reckon.
Long story short I was honestly just shooting for velocity since these are hunting rounds. Don't really care about groups but said what the heck and some targets out . Gras in the pasture is about knees high and the range is 10-15 min away so I just got my tripod out and go in a sitting position not expecting much. Actually started shooting ok @120 ( was about the only bare spot for my target) and on the last load something told me to go load up five more to see what would happen and excluding the two worst ones ( I was shooting off a tripod with a 1-10 LPVO I think I can get two flyers :D)
