Another Barrel Cooler Option

Old Navy

I bought one the yellow/ black coolers that ran on 4 AA bats and a more expensive red one. This little pump will blows the doors off of both of them. USB charging. It will will run 25 minutes on a full charge. You can hook it to a cell phone battery pack and run it for a lot longer.

Thank you John! This is just what I was looking for. I have been avoiding hot weather shooting and this could just be the thing that does the trick. My labradar battery pack has two output ports. So It will be even easier and I won't have to swap cords back and forth

Picked this one up from Amazon awhile back. Cut the head off of a piece of .223 brass and inserted it into the end of the clear poly tubing. Fits into all my chambers. This thing moves a lot more air than the "Chamber Chiller" and the battery is re-chargeable rather than buying the 2AA batteries.

I appreciate the small size of the ones listed above.

And the one I use is the size of a cordless drill (considerably larger), however IMO 24 CF/a minute beats 450ML/ a minute by a substantial margin.
What am I missing ?

Not really missing anything... just a preference thing... I would rather wait a minute or two more than bring another bulky thing to the range. I have so much crap I bring to the range, it's getting to be comical.

If I had my own home range, or I could drive my jeep up right next to the bench, that would be a whole different thing. As of now I have to go up stairs, swipe a key card, sign in at a desk, open another door, and walk down a dirt path 50 yards to get to a bench. All the while I have two things on my back/shoulders and carrying a tote and two gun cases. Less is more in that situation.

This one is chamber specific although will fit several calibers, and I have lots of copper tubing!! Drilled out the base of a 6.5 case, soldered the tube and splashed some yellow paint on it.

I did that as well. However, I do not use it that way anymore. I just put the larger tubing into the action. Moves enough air, the air also comes out of the relief hole in the action. So I guess I am cooling more than just the barrel.

I don't know that either way is better than the other, but I wouldn't hesitate to use just the tube (which I used to do) if I misplace the plug

I gave away my Magnetospeed (battery life sucks) and Chamber Chiller (broke the neck) and replaced them with a Ryobi 4 inch portable fan. Works awesome. Point it at the chamber and throat while youre shooting and youre set. When our lines go cold, its usually for 15-20 mins, so just leaving the action open will cool everything down. But having the fan all the time ensures it doesnt get too hot in the first place. download.jpg

My dad was on O2 for awhile and had accumulated a box of the hoses. They have a rubber fitting on the end that fits in most of my chambers. I used an old aquarium pump I had laying around.
Side note, I tried putting the pump in a cooler with an ice pack and it did reduce cooling time but I was getting condensation in the tubes so I quit that.
