couldn't find anything that said Aztec just numbers on the readout e read out

Once it’s done turning on and the numbers go away you should get a menu. Use the plus and minus buttons to toggle through the menu and look for Aztec. If that’s what you did and then there’s no Aztec.

I had it on for a few min. I can try again and let it run longer the numbers didn't go away so I must not of let it run as much as I needed to again Thanks for your help

Amp actually had 3 versions, the very first one will not accept the Aztec upgrade, version #2 is like version #1 ,having one fan but is upgradeable to the Aztec Mode at an addition upgrade cost. Version 3 ( AMP II) has 2 fans and has Aztec Mode from factory. You can email AMP the serial # and they can tell you which model you have.
