Just completed an annealer from plans off the web. I can't take credit for the design but apart from that and the wiring, it is all me own work. Total cost $100.00 AUD. $40.00 for the 12V DC motors & PWM Controllers, $60.00 for the gas gear. Workshop facilities courtesy of my employer. Thing runs like s steam train and as soon as I get some Tempilaq I can get it rattling for sure.So far I have just run it with some trashed .308 Lap cases. It will do my .260 & .308 cases but I may have to hand feed the .220 AI cases when the time comes.

jfseaman , I have a video on my phone, flame and all but that is about the extent of my techno skills , I even had to get my buddy's son to get my phone running.
Youtube is a bridge too far just now , perhaps , my buddy's son can do it !

Looking good! I attpted the induction style heater and after much research, I'm pulling the plug. I'm also interested in the plans for this.

I don't know if there are plans out there, but I built one very similar to the one in the picture. I copied the idea from something I saw on Youtube.

Search: "Mr longrange annealer" on Youtube and you will see several videos.

I started annealing before building anything was fashionable. I decided there were rules so I made a devise that did not violate a rule. The tool does not have 'WOW!' factor. It is more of a concept/ideal and does not cost enough to impress.

You are going to want to move the torch head closer to where the case spins. I learn that when building mine. The way you have it set up now will require a very long flame or 8-10 second dwell time. I move the torch closer, run about a 1" flame and can anneal my Lapua 308 brass in 6-6.5 seconds.

I will try an upload some pics of the electrical gear I used. The motor I used is different to El Skippos his was 50 RPM mine 15RPM.

Here is the motor I used . Item number 280715680665. The motors cover is drilled & tapped M3.

This is the PWM ( Pulse Width Modulation ) Controller, Ebay Item # 141347468788, digital read out , on/off switch and built in POT. Read out will display a percentage of the motor output , 50 on the dial is 50% of motor output not 50 RPM , at 45 the dwell time on the case drum is approx 6-7 seconds. You will also need a suitable 110V/ 12DC power supply. We use 240V AC for our household current. The supply I used was from a wrecked machine at work.
The case drum was rolled up from 316SS sheet 1.2mm Thk , El Skippo used a 125mm / 5" ally cake tin. The cake tin he used is 75mm deep which was cut back to 35mm, which exposes the neck and a little of the shoulder for my .260/.308 cases.
You will need to alter the cake tin to suit your calibres. Mount the case drum so it is removable , that way you can have several cake tins cut to suit the length of cases you are annealing.

Feel free to ask any questions , I didn't get it right first time and the next one ( maybe ) won't take as long to build.

Minnesota , thanks but Mr Longrange should be congratulated for is original design, inspired simplicity I thought and El Skippo for the several versions he built and for making the plans available. And my buddy Gary for doing the wiring on my unit.
I had my heart set on one of Mr Giraud's machines but discovered that he won't ship OS, so a search began.
I was confident that I could come up with something but discovering that youtube video saved me a lot of time and money.

Bcoates , thanks for your observation regarding the '' flame length." That original photo I posted was taken literally just after the wiring was completed and before I lit it up. I run some old Lap cases through the unit to see if there were any bugs in the build and there were a few but nothing I couldn't sort out.
I thought at the time that the flame probably need to be moved closer and will play with the timing once I get some Tempilaq.
Btw , there is only one Company that sells Tempilaq here $49.50 per bottle !
You would simply shudder at some of the prices we pay down here for shooting gear.

Here is my annealer I built last summer. I had the 2 motors and the aluminum, the rest cost about $25.00. I designed and built it in 3-4 days. It does 223 to 284 shehane.

Couple this with the induction annealer unit recently shown on the Forum and you could have a "flameless" setup for a lot less than what "you know who" is offering.
