Winter Project - DYI Case Annealer

My point is that with all these threads, the OP's always state how little money they have in the project and how much they saved over buying a machine. In this thread, the OP stated the total for parts was $125 then boasted about how it didn't cost $500+ like other machines.

Well it didn't cost $500 because the quality is nowhere near a $500+ machine.

AND if a person wants to brag abut the money they saved, they should also account for their time.

If you wanna show your builds and show people how to do it, that's great! I actually enjoy seeing the different contraptions. Pretty cool really. But don't start bashing other more expensive machines for sale on the market by stating how much "money I saved vs. buying one of those" when they fail to account for over 36 man hours to complete the home made machine

What do you take for your PMS??

I also built my own annealer, it was fun and it works very well. I used a prox switch for the auto loader also. The hopper holds about 45 .308 rounds. I am very happy with my set up. Because of the case I chose, I had to use right angle motor drives to fit into the case.

After all is said, reloading to save money could also be called ridiculous. I build things for the sake of building them and applaud others that do so as well. Yes, you could buy an annealer, but you could also buy loaded ammunition. I guess it's whatever floats your boat.

BTW, I didn't reply to this thread to p*** anyone off....

Thats not even close to the same thing. For serious shooters, handloading ammo is for tuning and maintaining 'consistent' accuracy in your firearms. Not saving money. If you figure in all of the equimpment costs to produce quality handloaded ammo, its not very cheap at all. No factory ammo can ever guarantee the consistency of handloads.

It could be a situation where the person building the annealer is unable to purchase a factory built unit and finds this is his way of saving money. Unless you were born with a silver spoon, don't bash those of us that were not. Again just my 2¢.......:):):)

I used a piece of Delrin round stock (1.75" Dia) and ran a hole done the center and a slot down the side.
If you do not have a mill to put the slot in, you can set the piece up with some blocks and use a table saw to put a square slot in the side. It only needs to be about 0.5" wide and deep.
