An issue with a Hornady de-capping die

My friend recently gave me some once fired Lapua Palma .308 cases for me to clean.

On close inspection there are tiny donuts of brass in the primer pockets.

It turns out that the de-capping pin is a smidgens larger in diameter than the flash hole.

Is the flash hole of a Palma case different to that of a normal case?

Call pma tool and get his decapping tool for the lapua flash holes. Off the shelf stuff aint gonna work. Or just use your sizing die if you have the right decapping pin. Youll need that correct anyway

Many thanks!

So, what de-capping pin should one use in for example a Lee Universal de-capping die?

The lee has a large pin and I dont think they make a small pin for purchase so your options are to chuck it in a drill and sand it down or to buy a die with the small already like a redding.

You need Hornady Small Decapping Pin #396618. They have a head and the pin is stepped down to fit Lapua undersized flash-holes .059". I use them in my LAPUA 6.5CM.
