How would you personally, react and/or change your shooting if the following kinds of legislation became law. My quick summaries ARE pending in CA right now.
SB53: $0.05 tax per round of ammunition. The bill also reads, "Ammunition†means projectiles with their fuse, propelling charges, or primers fired from a weapon, or any of the individual components thereof, including without limitation shot, shrapnel, bullets, or shells". OK, propelling charges can mean powder, but how one charges per round will be interesting. For reloaders, this means $.05 per bullet, $0.05 per case, and $.05 per primer, or a total of $.15/round..., plus powder. Since cases are reloaded, the actual cost per shot may be more like $.10, plus powder. In Maryland, the proposal is (or was) for a 50% tax on ammo, but not sure about components.
AB760: Requires ammunition purchase permits. Calls for recording of your name, address, thumbprint, etc. Sales only from authorized vendor (not a friend). Not a big deal to people who reload, but if some vendors decide to just not ship ammo or ammo components to CA or your state...
What would you do if reloaded ammo now is suddenly an additional $0.10 (or 50% tax) and/or you had to get a permit and record your ammo purchases with personal information, those records being subject to inspection?
