Subject: Ammunition Regulation

Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns?
Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have no
problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states, including Illinois and
Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture
a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy
and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009
unless the ammunition is coded.
Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.
,Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every
round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!

If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:
Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana,
Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington .

and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

And of course, criminals will abide by this law too. Wake up America !!!

I read it as $0.005 per bullet or loaded round, not $0.05.

I still don't like it.

What happens to my cartridge collection?

I'm writing my State Rep. as soon as I click Post Message!

in addition to any other tax imposed under law, a tax of 5ç per
round of encoded ammunition is imposed on the sale at retail or
use of encoded ammunition in this Commonwealth.

That is Pennsylvania

Looks like that bill died in MS back in Feb. of 2008 thank goodness. I didnt check the status in any of the other states, seems like this has been going on for a while and isnt something that just cropped up since the election, but I appreciate the info anyway. I would figure that some peopple should be calling and emailing thier legislators.

Recently, within the last two issues), the American Rifleman had a lengthy article about this legislstion, state by state. Evidently, most states voted on it in November, and most states voted it down. But I believe that is where you will find the latest info. The NRA is watching it closely, stick with them for more news.

That is one of the craziest things I've heard in long time. Imagine if this happened, there would be "Speak Easies" about ammunition prohibition. And in the back room a person could buy some illegal ammo. Pssssst "hey buddy, I got some fresh Mexican match ammo, you want some!" LOL It would be ludicrous to think, that on top of illegal drugs there would illegal ammo sales. Hmmm, sounds like most of America would be criminals. Yea, that's it...we should arrest everyone and overload the prison system..great idea. And we'll get the military to enforce this law.
just insane,
Tony

They tried prohibiting alcohol - the entertainment kind - back at the beginning of the last century. Didn't work too well so they repealed it; you remember the 18th Amendment, right? There were fewer states back then than there are now, but it still stands as the ONLY Constitutional amendment to have been repealed, though it took almost 15 years to do it.

We've had a "drug" problem in this country for nearly 50 years now & there's been a LOT of money made by all kinds of folks - here & abroad - both servicing that demand, and trying to limit it.

Prisons are full! They're letting violent criminals loose for lack of room to house them.

Consider too that there are laws benefitting law enforcement thru confiscation of property & you get the idea 'somebody' learned 'something' over the last 50 years. If you can make crime an industry, you need to nurture it to make it continue to pay.

The incoming POTUS wants 50,000 new "police" to assist your local law enforcement: new manpower between them and the professional services. Those of us in northern Illinois know what Chicago's CAGE unit has done to reduce gun-related crime in Chicago & Cook County, right? You can trust this will serve as the template for the new security plan.
