Am i the only one in this situation?

I'm in my 40's and just let me tell you, it gets worse. Doesnt mean its a problem, just worse then what you have now. Just be glad that you are in the spot you are. Many are not!!!

Cheek, you need to step your game up!!! If your wife has more shoes then you have guns, NOW THATS A PROBLEM!!!! Start with pairs, not shoe for gun. I prefer shoe for gun, but I dont think you are there yet. LOL

Never thought about counting shoes... just counted them on pairs! Let me rethink this..

It's called being prepared, thinking to the future, etc. Would you rather have constantly shrinking in value dollar bills in your hand that are diminishing in value daily as the feds print more and more funny money, or quality reloading components that are at least holding their value if not appreciating in value? The key is to play with money you can afford to convert to components AFTER paying the bills. Don't stress yourself financially.

My wife has 11 pairs of flip-flops. Counting shoes would require a team and it changes weekly! I tried the comparison during one of her bitch fests. It didn’t work! I finally said “There’s the door!” She stopped whining.

I had this disease many years ago but "cured" myself.:)

After adequate load development, I've standardized component inventory and stopped endless load development practices trying to squeeze another .1" reduction in group size.

What I discovered, assuming you have rifle / load capable of consistently hitting the area of interest in your chosen shooting discipline, is that the most significant factor affecting accuracy is the shooter's skill.

If you spend more time / money on honing your skill, it will pay bigger dividends than endless load development. This mean practicing in the manner in which you shoot in your chosen shooting discipline.

It goes in waves for me. When I started to get back into shooting a few years ago I was happy with my off the shelf bolt gun in .308 shooting massive quantities of cheap 7.62 ammo. Then I bought started picking up different styles/weights of bullets for the .308 and like other said, I had tuned loads for more than a half dozen combinations.

Then I started shooting NRA Highpower and I found that as my small business grew and my family started to grow that time was in short supply. I didn't want to tinker with loads. I wanted a solid 3/4 moa group that I could load on the Dillon 550. Then Peterson started making 6XC factory ammo....and last year I practiced more than ever....and my scores showed it. Now I've got a 6XC barrel that's seen nothing but factory ammo and I can't even buy some of the tried and true components. (I've got components but maybe not what folks always suggest). So, I'm in the process of developing a practice/short line load - that I can load in high volume and a long line load that I'll do on the single stage press ....just enough for getting zeros and firing in matches.

I love tinkering and load development, but when you are trying to achieve specific competition goals the tinkering can be in the way.

About 40 years ago, my gunsmith told me, "One of these days, you'll settle down and load just .308." I'm almost there.
Every year, I swear I am only going to shoot 223 and one other caliber.

This year started off well, was only shooting 223 and 6BR. Then I found an old 1903 in 30-06 and started playing with it, and now a friend wants me to shoot PRS with him so I am looking at building a 6mm Dasher...
