Alternative to Brownells modeling clay?

Looking for an alternative to Brownells modeling clay. I bought some random modeling clay on amazon and it's hard as a rock, requires heat or something... so I figured I'd ask what I should be looking for.

I like the brownells stuff, it's just out of stock.

I just bought Crayola brand at Michael's or wherever. No special treatment from me, but it still handles just fine years later even in my ~55 degree basement.

I got some Plastalina, which looks like the exact same packaging/format as Brownells.

I went through about a pound of the Mcmaster carr stuff and went to the Plastalina recently. no issues so far.

I keep in a ziplock bag, seems to help the shelf life.

I’m guessing you are using it for bedding? I use oatey plumbers putty for plugging holes on bedding jobs…. Much better then clay imo

I get it at Michele or Hobby Lobby, you want to make sure it's an oil base modeling clay not a plastic. Sometimes it may be a little hard if its cold or been sitting on the shelf for a while but if its good oil base clay once you start working it in your hand it will warm up and get softer.

Yep. That's probably a little easier to clean up too.

Been using Play Dough for 30+ years. Very easy clean up. Clay is a PITA

Walmart, cheap, the right consistency and available everywhere.

Give Plumbers Putty a try, you may like it better than modeling clay.

The best modeling clay is Play Doh.

I also recommend the use of Play-Doh. Works great and cleans up much easier than clay.

The nice thing about Play Doh is it dries out and is easy to pick out of holes with a dental pick, etc. No greasy mess like modeling clay...yuk.

Blast of air works as well.

Duct Seal (aka dum dum) typically used on service entrance cable into meter base. Won't dry out and adheres better.
