Pistol grip for offhand competition

Since my weight topic met with such great success and discussion, I though the trigger hand grip would make another exciting topic.
In my opinion a full pistol grip or thumb hole full pistol grip gives the hand more support in offhand competition where the target doesn't move.
A semi-pistol grip is better for hunting perhaps where the shot must be quicker.
I have seen a couple of guns where the semi pistol grip was built up with what looked like modeling clay to a full pistol grip. I guess it might harden after a while to hold its shape. This would be a good low cost alternative to a new stock and would add some needed weight. Rich

I don't know about the molded pistol grip, but I do feel the pistol grip such as on this ATI Fiberforce stock adds points to one's game.

Rereading my post it sounds like I know what I am talking about. Really I was just trying to start a discussion. There are many books that talk about how to shoot positions but not much on how to select a gun for a specific competition. Nice looking stock Joe. I was thinking more of some thing like this silhouette stock or these target rifle stocks. The more vertical grip angle allows the elbow to relax and drop a bit. Also the trigger finger doesn't stretch as much. Does this make sense? Relaxation is important for offhand stationary targets where rapid shooting is not required. I have thought in the past why do target rifles have a different grip than hunting rifles. I was looking at using a lighter sporter rifle for 3P shooting in the future as with my age and arthritis my 16 pounder is getting a bit heavy. First thing I noticed was the grip. It was impossible to hold my normal position with my right arm and relax.
