They have tooling for 60 and 80, but testing to know whats best has just started.
I just received 100 of the Alpha 6BRA and they are .080 flash hole.I’m betting on .060” out of the two although I run mine just slightly over that.
Dave.
We are not limited to just those two sizes. I reamed a few sizes for tom to test. If it points in a direction I'll ream more that way. Im not sure exactly how the .060" was settled on originally, but even if really thorough testing was done Im sure it was with a ppc and our results may end up being different.I’m betting on .060” out of the two although I run mine just slightly over that.

Tom has a tough testing regime ahead of him to come up with anything definitive but he will probably pull it off.
This I have heard before. Folks who had tunes worked out and understood the lower speed limits of their node, had their ES/SD go wonky in colder weather, even if they bumped their charge back up to get back within their previous tune. They were concluding that even though the cold was slowing them some and they tried to compensate for the cold, that with the smaller flash holes they lost performance in cold. They said they were happy again when they reamed open their flash holes. I didn't get to see them test or their data, so take that as internet lore for now.Has anyone experienced ignition issues with the small flash hole in 6BR variants? I had my first negative experience a couple months ago with my 6.5x47 when the weather cooled off. All of a sudden my ES went wild (teens up to 70+) and groups opened way up with standard primers.
It's got me wondering if a 6.5x47 with 0.080" flash holes would do the same thing or not.My new 6.5x47 Borden
@Evan Ive got a 260 AI that has a long freebore. Im currently shooting Berger 140 VLD's at 2900 out of a 28" 1-8 twist Krieger. Ive got a long freebore which is why im shooting the 140 VLD's, was thinking of trying the 144 LRHT because I thought they would setup with more of the bearing surface...forum.accurateshooter.com
Alex, I am thinking about ordering some starline 6.5 creedmoor brass with small primer pocket and .080 flash hole. What do you think? We are not limited to just those two sizes. My 6 BRA brass was just dropped off by UPS. This is my first Alpha order and included a handwritten thank you note addressed to me. The day after the order, I received an email stating brass dimensions, load data card and I like the plastic box that the brass is packaged in. I really hated to remove the paper sleeve surrounding the box. So far I’m very impressed with Alpha. My 12/20 order was shipped on the 21st and has been stuck in Utah since.
I started working with it yesterday. I can say for a fact it can take a punch! Shot a single piece of brass 50 times. The average for the 50 shots was 3006 FPS. On the last shot I took it up to 3030. Primer pocket is still good.
