Alliant Reloder-16

I've been checking my local LGS once a week and it hasn't showed up in my area yet.

I think I read RL16 is very temperature stable.
Can anyone confirm this, or compared it to H4350 regarding temp stability?

Anyone tried it in a 6.5x47 yet. It appears to be a bit slower than H4350. I thought it was suppose to be a bit faster. I fear it will be too slow for the x47.

I received a 8 lb jug from Natchez. Loaded some rounds for my 27.5".237 Krieger/Dasher and fired through my Magneto Speed in the back yard. With a 105 VLD it required 35.5 grains to achieve 2999 fps at 80* In my 27.5" 236 Brux/Dasher it required 35.1 grains to achieve 2988 fps. It requires a very long drop tube for these charges. Ballistic program shows pressure under 60000 psi. Thinking it my work in the Dasher Norma cases. But as most of us know the Dasher loves some pressure.

How does that compare to your other loads?

Have not performed any ladders at the present time. To early to make any comments. My accuracy load with Varget or H4895 are at 3000 to 3020 fps. These velocities are at approximately 6200-6300 psi in Lapua brass. Donovan Moran is a master of these test and I trust his numbers. Perhaps my lot is cooler/slower burning or barrels are shorter etc etc. I have not at this time achieved his velocities. Roger

I did some chronograph testing with it last week in my 27" .140" FB 6BRX with the new DTAC's. This barrel has always been on the slow side and maxes out around 2925 with 107 SMK's and RL15. I stopped at around 3020fps with the DTAC's and RL16. That was a hotter load than I would shoot but somewhere in the lower 2900's would be safe.

I'm picking up my order from Grafs next week. It will be a couple weeks before I will do any testing in my 6.5x47. I will post some results when I'm done.

I found a wide accuracy node of the RL16 this morning ranging from 34.8-35.6 grains. 35.6 yielded 2990 fps from a 28" barrel best group today was 34.8 at around .8 at 500 yards.

What bullet, case, freebore, barrel length James? Thanks. I am still waiting on my order.
