Dunno yet. The gun isn’t finished. The cartridges in my avatar are dummy rounds. I expect the cartridge to have similar ballistics to a 20 PPC. It has a few grains more capacity but I’m not keen on pushing 30-30 brass too hard. Once it’s all together I’ll definitely post results.Hiding in plain sight. My .204 Wasp is almost identical to Tommie's 5mm Wasp, the only difference being I shortened the neck to .250 which made the case length 1.770. My PD load with my Ruger No.1 with 26" Kreiger barrel and 39-40gr is a little over 4000 fps with either Varget or N140 using R-P 30-30 brass. My Ruger No.3 with 27" Pac-nor barrel runs 3900 with the same bullets and about .5 gr less powder due to W-W brass having less case capacity. I've had the 32gr V-Max up to 4300 but found a very accurate load with Varget at 4175 fps. I've shot well over 10,000 rounds using R-P and WW 30-30 brass in .219 Wasp, 204 Wasp, and .219DW PDK and never had a primer pocket loosen. If these links work there is some pics of the cartridge and rifles.Dunno yet. The gun isn’t finished. The cartridges in my avatar are dummy rounds. Dave
Glad I could help. Hope you enjoy your 788 5mm Wasp as much as I have enjoyed my .204 Wasp Rugers. And Dave was a great help in the design of my reamer. Thanks again, buddy!
Anyone who can get Ruger #1 rifles to shoot that good deserves tons of respect. They’re gorgeous but not the easiest critter to tame!Hope you enjoy your 788 5mm Wasp as much as I have enjoyed my .204 Wasp Rugers.

As is the 7-306x45 has been on the SAAMI approved list for about a decade now. No longer a wildcat.
I have tried to use a 700 receiver with a 20 Vartarg, my fat fingers don't like that.
I'm gonna move all this over to an XP receiver to try, if that doesn't help, then move it to a CZ 527.
There should be plenty of material to cut down for the smaller receiver.
But with the CZ receiver, I don't have the options of after market stocks and triggers.
There is a lot more options with the 700 platform.
