Advice re concealed carry...

I have a Glock 19X and it's an OK handgun, lots of ammo in the mag and kinda heavy, but I carry a PPKS. A lot easier to carry. Weight will make a difference if you carry it all day.
dont carry as much ammo in your g19! then you have a pistol that fits your hand which is the most reliable with only one button to push to make it fire.

You carry a PPKs? Isn't that a bit heavier or no?

I bought a new Hellcat earlier this year....15 rd mags are a plus

Trigger ? Hmmm Jury still out for me....even after 500 + rds

Even called SA C/S to inquire about it....

Agent told me it is not an XD-M Elite with the META trigger

Aftermarket HC triggers are available for $100 + install

Most recent SA purchase is this XD-M Elite compact in 45 ACP

Very easy to shoot....along with being my first red dot sight....Love it !

Here's my carry gun...a S&W 442 38 Spl.

I keep things really simple with my self defense handguns with these 3 steps:

1. Empty handgun at target
2. Throw handgun at target while running away
3. Get shotgun

Good shootin' :) -Al

I sold my G19’s and swapped them out for serialized poly 80’s. THESE are the gen6 Glocks!

No, it's a .380 and carries 7 rounds, much less than a Glock 19 or 19X. James Bond handgun. I'm not as big as the OP so I'd rather have something smaller even though it packs less of a punch. I don't think anybody is going to stand there and let me shoot holes in them (I hope) so I carry the smaller gun.

I'm a solid Glock Guy . My one Son is a LEO and carries the 19 as his Duty weapon , and has a "personal" 19 as well . I live in Arizona , and Open Carry a G-22 , .40 cal , 185 Truncated HP . Little heavy , but gives me a lot of comfort . :D:D:D

I went to a CCW class last year.
One of the videos they showed was from a Maryland State Trooper body cam.
Guy was coming after the trooper with a 2X4. Trooper pulled & put 12 rounds in the body from about 8' before the guy stopped advancing.

I'm not about to start the great caliber debate, but i have bought & carry pistols now with higher capacity magazines.

I still like & carry my Walther PPS, and 4" 1911.
But i've since picked up a H&K VP9 & a Walther PPQ in 45 ACP.

The 1911 rides in a De Santis Yanque slide holster.
The PPS i have an IWB Leather Lock from Urban Carry.
The VP9 & PPQ ride in OWB Leather Lock holsters from Urban Carry.

The Glock 43X is a very nice size pistol and offers a bigger grip for larger hands. I purchased a few of the 15 round shield mags for it. Pretty much carries the same number of rounds as the full size 9mm does. Great carry gun and easy to conceal. Most times I forget I have it in the holster.

What I carry has to fit a few easy criteria, safety, reliability and concealability in equal, measures.

I have a S&W 442 with a holster that's inside the waste that covers the trigger, that's not always available as the wife takes it.

Summer carry I prefer a pocket pistol for cargo shorts. The Makarov gets the most work, it has a safety that blocks the hammer, trigger and firing pin. When dealing with kids, (now grandchildren) groceries if you drop the keys in the wrong pocket it's a safety thing. I've been shooting over 55 years, I regularly practice my drill and the day a safety becomes to much to deal with, I'll give all the guns to my son. Concealment is a formidable tactic and the Makaro hides well.

Cold weather will generally see one of my two Glocks, in 9MM or 357 Sig, I rarely carry my Para Ordinance P14-45 as it's not as easy to conceal.

Hiking, black bear country a 4" Smith in 38, brown bear a 6" Model 29 in 44 mag.

From your choices I would pick something small and easy to make invisible for concealment, if the Walther is reliable they make nice night out with the ladies carry. Anything without a manual safety requires a proper holster and without knowing your body type it's hard to make any suggestions.

I just purchased a Sig 365 TacPak (comes with 10-mag and two 12-mags and a holster… Gunbroker $540. If I were primary user I would pick up a few 15-mags for the pinky extension on grip. It is truly a conceal carry, size may be issue if you have XXL hands. It makes my Springfield XDS look like a full size gun!

I would go to indoor shooting range that rents out guns and try both Sig P365 and Springfield Hellcat.

Glock is now outdated on design and recoil management. It is a great pistol, but there are now so many other option that are as good or better that also feature improved ergonomics.

Haven't you heard of the Apex trigger for your Hellcat?

Glock Gen 5 ONLY for me, due to how the pistol is supported in the web of my hand! I carried a PPK for a while, and they are very uncomfortable. Otherwise, a Springfield XD-M in 9mm, 40, or 45 ACP.

9mm-147+P, 127g +P+, or 124g+P will get the job done, and you can fight off quite a few Indians with 19 rounds on the magazine and one in the pipe! Remember, watch your front sight!

The Hell cat is a great pistol, but it is NOT a pocket pistol. A Ruger 380 loaded with 95g HST is with me at all times.

In these crazy Azz times, best to carry a full size pistol with a back up magazine. Ever been Swarmed?

I was robbed once, guy had a model 19 S&W, loaded with Win Silvertips. I was carrying a Model 60 in 38 special loaded with 95g Silvertips. So, I knew what I was looking at with those 145g 357 Mag sliver tips starring at me! I was so scared that I forgot that I had a 38 in my waste band! When he turned to walk away, then I realized that I wanted to shoot him in the EAR real bad! Glad that I did not, because in Ca, that would have been considered first degree murder....threat was over!

If you need a weapon, more than likely as a civilian, it will be within 6 feet if not closer. If you carry a knife, if you are right handed, carry that flipper knife in your left pocket, as you will be fending off bag guys with your strong right arm and hand. Get a flipper knife that is for a left hand person...it maybe worthless if you do not!

Thank You Jesus, I do not live in California anymore!

Hellcat fits in my front or rear pocket just fine. It even fits in my front pocket along with an iphone. As far as glocks go, ill take a gen one over all the rest

Dusty, I need a pistol design like a 1911 with a strong beaver tail or else I just spray bullets all over. The web of my hand has to fit tight in the beaver tail to control recoil...everyone hands are different.

My jeans probably fit my fat azz too tight for the hell cat, I need to loose some weight so my sloppy fit jeans can hide a hell cat without imprinting. I shot a Hell Cat a month ago, and brother, they are impressive to shoot! I would not want a trigger job for self defense.

An upgrade from the Ruger 380 would be the Hell Cat for sure! I would call Wolfe and re spring for +P and 'P+ loads. I tore up a ruger LC9 shooting 124g Speer gold dots at 1250 fps, and they replaced without question.

Wolf makes a power spring for the Ruger 380 for use with the Buffalo Bore 100g at 1000 fps. My only issue with the Ruger 380 is that I can not get a 19 round magazine! More often than not, the bad guys run in packs of 4 or more....I know first hand.
