Accutrigger

lol biged you got took. The RB costs more than the SSS comp model. But the price wasn't a consideration for me. You do realize that all the ppl at savage shooter are Fred groupies and would never say anything bad about him or anything he sells. You should have checked elsewhere for your references.

Rifle Basix SAV-1 $89.95 (which the majority buy because its cheaper)
Rifle Basix SAV-2 $159.95 (same category as the SSS Competition Trigger and cost "MORE".
Sharp Shooter Competition Trigger $102.00, the trigger I installed on my Savage "THAT WORKS WITH THE SAFETY" and cost less the yours.

Now you said something about being taken and not doing my homework, the rifle basix triggers get scary when adjusted to their "advertized" lower settings and become unpredictable.
My Sharp Shooter Competition Trigger doesn't. ;)
(and I'm too old to be a groupie or impressed with hot air)

I have 3 red blade triggers that have ben work on. They are 6oz or less excluding the blade pressure they cant slam fire because of the blade. They don't De cock when closing the bolt. That was fixed when the trigger was worked on. The rifle basic can and will slam fire if you try to make them too lite. I have a SSS supply jewel type that goes to 3oz .My self I like the red blade re worked trigger best. Larry

Loaded Lapua with 41 grain of H-414 CCI 250 and 50 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip seated at .007 of lands. Thank You for such direct answers. I would like to know more about who did the work on your triggers. W.

I just got my Savage based pistol back from Nat Lambeth of NC (aka Rustystud on this forum), he set the timing, fixed the bolt lift and worked on the Red Blade Accutrigger. Everything was as it should be and the trigger is as good as any aftermarket Savage trigger I’ve tried.

Interesting thread, I have tried all the Savage triggers known to me SSS, Rifle Basix 2, stock triggers, regular Accutrigger, and the PTA orange blade trigger. The PTA trigger, we still use 2 in competition, it is ok but could be better. In a standard long action Savage a SSS replaced reworked old standard trigger but could not get pull low enough for match shooting, replaced with Rifle Basix 2 as per gun builders advice. It works well for me and seems to be the trigger the Savage shooters are using at our club. A reworked PTA trigger though has me thinking as to something I may have missed.

I've got one Savage PTA with a Basix - 2, It's now set at 3 oz and is reliable, had it set at an honest 2 oz but would fire if bolt was closed hard, this is an older actions and doesn't have the new plastic insert in the bolt body. I had to modify the factory target sear as the angle of engagement with the trigger lever was not correct. I think this might be some of the problem with some rifles and effects both factory and aftermarket triggers. It takes a gunsmith to order a replacement factory sear. I have a new action that I will add a Basix - 2 next month even though the factory accura trigger is working fine at - 4 oz. Like the feel of the Basix better. I'm not a gun smith but know a little about how single and double set triggers work and have some experience with 1911's and can recognize if the angle of the sear is not correct. The factory trigger sear is not hardened on either of my actions and can be filed(!), this was a surprise but this part is not like the firing pin sear. Take advise from a professional gunsmith but if you're having trouble get your eye level with the part of the sear that makes contact with the trigger bar and see how square the surfaces engage and how much engagement they have. No guarantee any of this is correct so seek professional advise.

I stumbled across a good trick to easily and safely adjust the factory accutrigger to less than a pound and it is completely reversible if you don't want to keep it or sell it etc... You simply switch the spring from the first stage safety blade over to the trigger. You will need to bend a tab on the end of the spring to fit in the locating hole. Save the spring from the trigger incase you need to reverse the alteration. Now pull apart the free "Bic" click pen you picked up at the bank last week and take its spring. Use this pen spring to replace the spring that you removed from the first stage. You will have to sort of thread it on over the tapered protrusion on the top of the safety blade. That's it, your done, and as long as your rifle came with a well matched trigger and sear (as mentioned above) you should have a great trigger

There are many guys on SavageShooter saying Bruno's make a good trigger for a Savage, I have never tried them.

I'm curious... any links on this? I did a search over on savageshooters.com for 'Bruno' and didn't find anything specific regarding triggers.
