Accurizing Ruger/Winchester Factory Rifle

Being new to machining and gunsmithing I find a plethora of articles, tools, jigs, workholding, etc, for the Remington 700.

What’s the deal with Ruger Mdl 77 & Winchester’s Mdl 70? Very little mention or desire to improve out there…

The bolts are obviously not as simple as Rem’s but can’t they be stripped down and trued like a Remington? What about the actions, stress free bedding, etc?

Are there just that many more Rem Mdl 700s versus Ruger & Winchester 77 & 70s? Somebody out there had a good shooting Ruger or Winchester and must have pulled it apart and did some squaring, smoothing, etc, to make it shoot better.

So what’s up? Am I just looking in all the wrong places?

They can be trued up just most people seem to like to build up Remington actions not that you cant make them all shoot. As for the truing of the bolts on rifle's that are controlled round feeding I like to use the mill instead of the lathe so that I can take the cut down out of the bottom of the bolt. That's just my two cents.
