Accurate 22 Rifle

I have been shooting for 40 years but never a 22. Which rifle should I be considering to shoot 1" at 50 yds? It should have a magazine of at least 5.

What is your $ limit? What is your intended use for it, do you want blue or stainless? Wood, laminate, or plastic? (Palymer), stock. Heavy barrel or sporter. Most all rifles out there will do 1" at 50. You are probably going to get every answer in the book.
Whatever you get
Welcome to the 22lr world.

As stated, 1" at 50 yds is pretty easy and achievable with most good .22 RF rifles, an inch at 100yds is however much harder.

Some will do it out of the box; others may require some time and a little tweaking.

Depending on your budget, Anschutz, CZ, use Brno.

As 3Ackleys has already said. Anschutz 1710 or 1712 if you have the $$$. CZ 457 or Tikka T1X for good quality at a more reasonable cost. Just about any modern rifle will get you to the .5 at 50 yards mark.

Edit to add. With halfway decent ammo.

Poconoig;

Whatever 22 rimfire rifle you decide on, test it with several different brands of 22 ammunition, preferably standard velocity.

22 rifles seem to group better with one brand over another. No way of determining other than trial and error.

Can you please give us an idea of your budget?

I'm pretty happy with my CZ and Bergara, but they are at much different pricing tiers.

Tikka T1X best out of the box shooter i own
CZ 457- I have 4they shoot pretty good
Anschutz 1710D HB amazing rifle, but more $$
The Budget is in the ammo. Go to Euro Optics and check out the Tikka T1X and the Bergara BMR.
These will definitely meet your criteria. You may be the limiting factor. Condition change at 50 yards can eat your grits fast, quick, and in a hurry. I'm not implying anything about shooting abilities, it's just fact for me.

Not really a rim fire guy but my CZ 455 sporter just puts a big smile on my face every time I shoot it. With a Yo Dave trigger kit and finding what it likes for ammo (it likes CCI Mini Mags better than 'match' ammo), it shoots honest 3/8"-1/2" five shot groups at 50 yards over flags. On a decent day for winds, 100 yard five shot groups are 1"-1 1/4".

One pal has a bone stock CZ457 and it's as good, another has a Tikki T1X and it's a shooter. There's a group of Browning TBolt shooters at our range and those guns seem to run the gamut for accuracy...though I suspect several of the shooters aren't as good as their guns are.

Plus 1 for the TBolt. I picked one up several years ago when i decided I wanted an "adult" size .22. I was always intrigued by the straight-pull bolt and figured I'd give it a try. Mine has the "varmint" barrel (actually just a contour slightly heavier than a sporter) and shoots most ammo well. I did do a spring tweak to the trigger, since it wouldn't go as light as I wanted and after-market triggers were nonexistent, but I didn't need to change anything else. The 10-round helical magazine is smooth and feeds quite well

What’s the goal/game you have in mind?

if you want a cheap entry that will get you great results then CZ 457, Tikka T1x, Bergara B14r all get lots of recommendations.

Ive had identically setup 457 and T1x and the CZ was nicer. I sold the T1x and I’m waiting for a B14r barreled action

if you want to get in to small bore or biathlon then Anschultz, Walter are bigger names in the game
