Accuracy of electronic targets

What's the resolution of the system? A few mm could be the difference between an X and a 10. To be fair paper targets aren't that precise either, but as pointed out at least you can contest it. Ideally you could do with both, electronic with a paper reference for any disputes.

And if set up haphazardly the acoustic centre versus optical centre will vary from target to target across the range.
Effectively changing your wind zero each time you transition to another target.
Any seasoned competitor knows how critical a proper wind zero is to our sport!

Especially if you are shooting at Canberra…!

Same day. Same setup. Only about 1 1/4" difference in group size, for only 5 shots. What's 1" between friends, every 5 shots, in a Regional, State or National Championship???
This is disturbing, considering the setup. I wonder what the source(s) of error are. Knowing the shooter, I’m sure it was set up square & measured properly.

I like e-targets for what they are, convenient. However if nearly every self-admitted fan of e-targets has always said that you cannot trust the velocities on target how can they reasonably trust the absolute accuracy. I'd like to think it is a variable like the wind or an unlevel pool table that is equal for all, but if it is as highly variable for even just one shooter with two sets of pick ups, I cannot get behind them for any match that really matters to me.

I have been in the pits and asked for a second set of eyes on a close line shot, scored appropriately, and sent the target up with only an extra couple seconds delay, the shooter may not have even noticed or can challenge for value if they did.
