Also, 2.4Ghz is a common unlicensed microwave band which is (starting to be less common) widely used by cellular carriers for transport back haul on cell sites. Do the systems have the ability to detect interference and/or to switch to different channels to avoid interfering with someone else already in the band? Or having someone interfere with the data being sent to the line? Low power directional antennas?
If the system is a Kongsberg the target is down. Some of the other Australian systems can loose a Micr and still operate. Have not seen a micr hit yet but cut cables yes also the control/computer box (that is expensive). Keep the control/computer below the mantlet. The targets need to be close read very close to the mantlet to protect the BOX. I also suggest that a cover of some sort be made/fitted over the BOX to protect from the heat. Cooler box material is good, shade cloth etc.
Remember with manual targets maintenance is being done with every patch not so with ETs so a good regular maintenance programme is required. Use removable aim marks for all ranges used they do get shot out quickly. When a hole appears in the coreflute rear glue a rubber patch on to cover it. Use same rubber as the sound box. Do the same to the sound box as well. Don't throw the old sound box rubber away it can be used as patches. The high DD or TDD foam used inside needs replacing when it developes a hole though this can be quite large when a rubber patch is used on the rear. Another trap is the cables between the targets MAKE SURE they can not get pinched anywhere at any time and are out of the way when people are walking and working in the pit. If the cable between No1 and No2 gets damaged you only have ONE TARGET LEFT TO WORK No1. Suggestion have a small pit crew to replace centres on the go, shot out ones or the next range ones. 25 shooters using 3 targets have just shot 3 ranges 7,8,900yds starting at 8.15 am finishing packed up and put away the whole range and went to BBQ lunch 1pm. 12 shots on each 10 to count. Day before we shot 3,5,600yds starting at 1.30pm breasted the bar just after 5.30pm leaving the range set for the next day.
Did I say I like ETs
