AccuLab Scale Opinions.

Hey fellas, I wanting some opinions on the AccuLab or Denver insturments electronic scales that measures to the .01 grain. I know that a lot of people think that this precise of a unit is not needed, I may agree after I try it but I feel like I have to try it. I will only use his unit to load long range f-class ammo. I think this will help narrow any elevation issues which is what I am looking for. You have to consider in f-class we are shooting a 1/2 minute x ring. It does not take much variance to be outside of 5" at 1000 yds. Thanks for your input, Dean-o

Deano,

IMHO you are on the right track. I have been shooting F-class for four years now. for the last two years I have been shooting one 1000 yard match and one 600 yard match per month. I also practice at 1000 yards once a week so I get a good amount of trigger time. I replaced my RCBS 10/10 scale with the Accu-Lab scale last year and my scores have gone from marksmen/Exepert to Master scores. Learn to use the scale properly and it will reward you. any question just PM me.

+2..I have the VIC-123 and the 10-10, I use the 10-10 just as a backup and to compare charges to. Both the A-lab and DI scales are ridicously accurate and sensitive, need a room w/o airflow. I wouldn't have it any other way.

would the rcbs powder pro digital scale give same accuracy and reliable measurments as the acculab.

Uh... heck no. One is accurate, maybe) to 0.1gr... the other to 0.02gr. There's a reason one costs a good chunk more than the other.

I have an Acculab after using the RCBS set up for years. Worlds apart. My vertical disappeared at 1K with the Acculab,I think). They are sensitive but well worth it..

Just wanted to add that .1gr accuracy is huge for rifle loads when points are on the line. You could be 1/10 either side of zero and with the lab scale you take that error out of the equation. I just wish the text on the readout was a bit more clear by that I mean all caps but no big deal. You will thank yourself..trust me.

+3 on the Acculab. I just make sure to plug it in a min. of 1 hour before I plan to use it to settle it down.
Another thing I have found to settle it down is once it has warmed up and I have calibrated it,I do this each reloading session) My scale seems to like wieght on the platen then have it zeroed. I have a Lyman plastic funnel pan on the scale with it zeroed, throw into the pan that was provided with the scale and then dump onto the scale. It seems to hold zero the best with this process. I used to just throw directly into my lyman funnel pan, but with no weight on the platen it really wandered off of zero?
