As most of you know this is a very sad day for Maine and our country. At 7pm last evening a man went into two locations in Lewiston Maine and killed at least 22 and wounded 50+. 14 hrs later he is still at large. Robert Carr 40 retired Army of 20 years and trained firearms instructor is the suspect.
It’s 3 hrs from where I live but I do have friends in the area.
I told one we were thinking about his community. He responded:
Thanks “Me”.Problem in with smaller community waiting to hear who was involved. Ex high school buddy and who I worked with at Lewiston PD (he is retired) was in the bowling alley with his wife and granddaughter. He was on the left and shooter went right. He barricaded with tables and chairs and told her to be quiet. Other then stepping over bodies on the way out they are okay.
I said “I am very surprised someone was not carrying concealed and defended the area.
He stated…
Harder to bowl carrying. At the bar maybe. It was Cornhole night. They think he had a jet ski or dirt bike by the river. Don’t think he is done and is going to go hard..

Understand Maine has Red Flag and Yellow Flag laws and perp had been treated, maybe admitted himself, a few weeks ago. Have to take these indicators seriously. So very sad.
Not sure. Heard earlier Maine has yellow but not red flag law. They said that if he self admitted for psych problems that law enforcement likely never knew about it. We have got to deal with mental health differently in this country. We used to put people like that away and out of society. It seems harsh by today's way of thinking but this shooting is the consequence of dealing with it too softly, imho.

It’s such a sad development that these crazy things keep happening. When I was young we shot 22 rifles for our marksmanship merit badge, we shot rifles at school, later in high school every truck in the parking lot had a rifle or two in the back window rack. This insanity never happened. The moral compass of so many in this country has decayed and declined. I hope those that have been affected are comforted by friends, family, community and most of all God and his holy spirit. I also hope they find this donkey before he can do more evil.

This is so sick. Will it ever change? It seems to become more frequent.
I heard just a couple of days ago, an Alaska Airlines pilot flying as an extra in the cockpit, shut off the fuel to the engines. The pilot and copilot managed to correct his actions before it caused the plane dire problems, then subdued the pilot. He is being charged with 83 counts of attempted murder.

People that wish to do harm to others have so many ways they can choose to do so.

We have got to deal with mental health differently in this country.
Agree 100%

Wow! How do they miscount bodies? The story being reported last night kept changing so much it was frustrating to watch. Why can't they do investigative reporting instead of stating rumors as news? no excuse for that crap.
They are saying 18 dead, 13 injured and 10 (of the 18) not identified due to extreme bodily damage. No 'miscount', just an identification issue..

I see that differently. Identifiable or not, dead is dead. This is quite different than the 22 dead and 50ish injured being reported last night. Where did that misinformation come from? Still tragic...but plain wrong too. Maybe not miscounted, just misreported...or plain wrong either way. Very much appears that news source was simply reporting unsubstantiated rumors.
