A look thru the borescope.... UPDATED: 6/27

So I got the cheapest Teslong, not expectin g much but pleasantly surprised..... and horrified.... ;)

Some pics .... 6 Dasher, the one I been having problems with, now thinking it wasn't me, it was carbn ring the whole time. Some 400 rounds thru it w/o scrubbing the chamber....till now. Pics are AFTER cleaning.

First.... case neck area from 7 - 2pm, the case mouth "line" and start of the l&g....

1655559722003.jpeg

Second.... case mouth / where carbon ring forms....10 - 11 am, freebore and comparatively dirty l&g....

1655559853131.jpeg

Third....dirty l&g from 1 - 8" inches into the bore from the chamber area....

1655559917716.jpeg

Fourth.... l&g area 8+" from the chamber to the muzzle...

1655559986909.jpeg

Far as I can tell...

(1) Carbon ring looks minimal AFTER cleaning
(2) From freebore to 8" out needs somer work
(3) 8+ " to muzzle looks good enuf

Seems well worh tthe $60. Pics decently clear. I know WAY more about my bore than before. I *better* start getting some sub 0.50" groups from this thing.

Teslong borescope: recommended

Would like to hear back how it shoots after cleaning.

The pics appear a little out of focus - the focus can be adjusted by screwing in/out the mirror.
The throat and first few inches doesn't look that dirty to me. It would be interesting to know how it shoots when the barrel looks like it does in the pics.

When you finish shooting run a patch of carbon solvent in the throat and first 8" of the bore back and forth ~10x then out the end and it will make cleaning much easier, it helps the prevent the hard carbon ring from forming and makes it way easier to clean. Borescope can tell you a lot of things but don't get wrapped up in it.

I consider the teslong one of the better investments I have made in awhile. If mine stopped working today I figured I had got my moneys worth just for piece of mind knowing whats going on in my barrels. I will admit I was kinda disappointed with pic clarity untill I learned to adjust the mirrior lol...

Pics are a tad out of focus but honestly it’s hard to judge not seeing any before cleaning pics, can you share the before shots??

Email teslong. Mine stopped after 8 months, and I emailed them and they sent me a brand new one at no charge.

Yeah....I wondered. I wondered if thread the camera lens out if it'll move as I move the scope....

Yeah I need to consistently do that. I'm wondering if the darker bore (from 1-8" down the bore) will make much difference.

I cleaned b4 I got the scope.

I'll take some b4 / after pics of my 6ARC when I can.
Please do. I’m curious how dirty it is. It would have to be ridiculously dirty to instantly turn a 1-1.5 moa rifle into a 0.5 moa rifle. I’m definitely anxious to see the shooting results. I clean my rifles but not nearly to the degree that many folks on this site would like me to. In fact, I routinely shoot two competitions in a row without cleaning at all. My competition rifle seems to need 40-50 rounds to settle in after being cleaned.

The 224 Valkyrie bolt gun needs less than 10 to "season" the bbl after cleaning. That gun was a 0.35" gun before the last range trip and with exactly the same load went to an inch+

What about the 6 dasher this thread was started about? What is the best that gun ever shot??

Very early on, with a light load, the gun shot 0.3" at 127 yards. I was at Stan's house when I shot it. :( I then tried to increase the powder charge, but was never able to get much below 0.75".... I even repeated that light load and it grouped poorly.

In all this, I never did proper chamber / carbon ring cleaning....so....

I also have the bright shine ... One of the known things about it.
I Learned to look at what i can see. After all i still get all the information i need....

I got the box of different size of lenses and using a bigger lense alleviates the shine. It seems the little .22 is just the right size to be consumed by the light. Even the red one ...

I wouldn't do anything permanent to the light bulbs with a marker wouldn't work well if it didn't work well.
I've tried to change the phones camera stuff but I've not figured that one out.

Depending on the app you're using, there may be some image response settings that will allow you to change how it sees and displays brightness, gamma, contrast, and hue. Can make a huge difference in how it displays.
