A list of my ACKLEYs

If those are your AI's, I would like to see the total list of your calibers.

I have a 20 Bobcat (kind of an improved), a 223 Improved (since this isn't really an AI) and a 22-250 AI. The Bobcat stands out in accuracy, case life, and unique-ness.

But what I have always wanted is a 280 AI. To me, that would just be the perfect cartridge.

Very nice!

Right now I want:
223AI shooting 80ish grain bullets
22-250AI shooting 90gr vlds (although I might want to swap this bullet with the 223's)
6mmbr ai shooting anything
and a,
270win ai for either nosler lrab150gr, 140classic hunter, or eld-x as I think the 170hybrid might be a bit much but haven't though too hard about that.

I have some Ackley caliber bolt rifles, but my favorite Ackley RIFLE is a M92 Winchester lever gun with 24" octagon barrel originally a .25/20 Win that P.O. re-bored and cut rifled the barrel and converted the action to .357 Magnum for me many years ago in his Salt Lake City shop. Vic

I have a 7x57imp in a sako full wood carbine with 20 inch barrel I like a lot.

I have an oddball Ackley style round called the 243 LBC Turbo 40. Although it has a 40 deg shoulder, it's actually more of a 'Dasher' style case than it is an Ackley because the shoulder is blown forward quite a ways. Just a PPC with shoulder moved way forward and blown out to 40 deg. Fun little round to shoot and very accurate.

How do you like the 6.5 Rem Mag AI? I have shot a SAAMI 6.5 Rem Mag for many years now. One of my favorite 'go-to' hunting rounds. I have 2 of them (both semi-custom rifles built on factory actions). Built the other one for my son actually (13 years old). I am easily able to achieve 3200 fps and 1/4 MOA with Berger 140s in a 26" 8 twist barrel while always using less than 60 grains of powder. How much more power does the AI shoulder give the round with 140's? 3250+? 3300? Thanks.

That list would take awhile.

I do have a couple that he actually worked on but my most cherished is a Ackley Mauser that he had made . 150 were made 100 right hand the remaining were left hand ( according to DeHaas book of Bolt Action Rifles)
It's pictured in his ( DeHaas ) book .

Loved it ! I've got 4-5 mildly different custom reamers for it . Some long , long leade ,some tighter necks , longer necks etc.
I was trying it at 1000 in the mid 70s but bullets weren't up to snuff.
Coffee time ! More later

I have a .250 AI in a XP100R for deer hunting. I can use this a shotgun zone. 257 AI love this one.
Built a 25-05 AI for my son to use out west. This is a real race horse with Nosler 100gr. BT. my 280 AI I've had for 20 years and is my favorite and a real deer killer.
