A bet, 50ft using a pistol hitting a quarter

I have a bet with a guy at work, I have to hit a quarter at 50ft with a pistol with only one try. It can be any cal, any kind of pistol, bench rested for sure, and using optics which I currently own. I need some opinions on a pistol setup. This is a big bet so purchasing this pistol and winning would equal a free pistol. I am also a confident pistol shooter i just want to use every advantage I can.

I was thinking encore as well, with a big caliber (45/70) or a free pistol use in international pistol competitions...with the right .22 ammo they are unbelievable!! I know pardini can do this easily
cheers

On the FIRST shot is THE issue. Your going to need an accurate pistol for sure, I'd dry fire a few times as well.

Frankly fifty feet isn't that far. With the right pistol or revolver, off the bench, with OPTICS.....easy peazy.

I know it sounds easy but, pressure. I'm not worried I also get as much shot time as I want as long as the real one counts.

I doubt he'll be able to use a TC Encore. That's more of a short barreled rifle than anything.

You could easily pull that shot off with a Browning BuckMark Varmint 22LR pistol. I have that exact model and 50 ft on a quarter when rested on bags is guaranteed money in the bank if using a good optic. I have shot 5 shot groups smaller than a quarter at 25 yards just resting on a bag over the hood of my truck. Extremely accurate little pistols. I can damn near hit gophers at 100 yards with it if the rest is good enough. My Buckmark is as accurate as any 22LR rifle I have ever owned.

Check out this fellas 3 shot group with his Buckmark Varmint at 100 yards

Ask him if he wants any more takers. Sounds like money in the bank for you. Pressure will be almost gone after making the shot about 100 out of 100 times, practicing it.

I have a 20 Vartarg barrel tosses them in 1-1/4" at 200 yards

Biggest challenge is finding where the cold barrel first shot lands.

A t/c encore counts as a pistol in my book, this was honestly what popped in my head first. I do shoot at distance with 6br and 308 but never at 50ft. I've been doing some research into a encore frame some kind of trigger work and an MGM or bullberry shilen 6br 14" barrel. The optic will be a premier 5x25. Just never fired anything like this before in pistol config.

I would use my Morini air pistol with iron sights. To make it interesting after making the shot, I'd place a new yellow No.2 pencil at 33 feet so that only the round end of the eraser shows and then bet double or nothing. No pistol is more accurate.

He will loose that bet to many Archery shooters. I watched a pistol shooter loose to a stick and sting guy. 10 shots in a row .They were shooting closest to center at 20 yds. Larry

I've got a xp100 with a Krieger fluted barrel chambered in 6.5 BR that will get the job done. I'd sell it out even possibly rent it out. It has shot better than 3/8"every time out. This was with the first load of 130 Berger vlds and Varget.

My S&W .22 target pistol with red dot will do that easy. I shoot sparrows with it at 50 yards just bracing my hand against the door jamb.

I used to shoot acorns out of the air with my dad's .22 Rem 550. I taught my one armed little brother how to do it and he took a bet for a weeks pay at the place he worked one time that he could shoot a dime out of the air with it on the first shot. He got permission from the factory owner to bring the gun in for the challenge and won with lots of witnesses. The loser never paid up and his co-workers rode him so hard about it he quit.
