85 Gr. Hornady Interbond

Have any of you had any experience with this bullet? I did some initial testing on expansion by shooting it thru a 3" catalog with a bucket of sand behind it. It held together better than any other bullet I tested. Sand is very hard on bullets and probably not a valid test for a hunting bullet but
I was impressed. Haven't tested it for accuracy/groups and was wondering what your experience has been with getting it to group well ....Any experience or suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

It is my understanding that the Hornady 85 Gr Interbond is only made in one caliber---6mm..Thanks for the Web Site.

I loaded this bullet in my nephew's .243 Win. I loaded the 85g IB and the 87g Vmax with the same powder charge and same seating depth and it had very similar POI out to 300 yards in that rifle. It is a great deer bullet. I tested in the bullet test tube and also in 3 Kentucky whitetails and it performed flawlessly. One was a large buck that smashed through both shoulders and exited on a 67 yard shot. On another deer, a high-shoulder shot was used and the deer dropped (as expected) with complete penetration and lung soup. The last was a quartering away shot where the bullet entered in the back on the ribcage, angled through the chest cavity, out the front shoulder, into the neck(deer had head down) and followed the spinal column for 8 inches before coming to rest. Bullet was recovered and continued to weigh 87% of its original weight after penetrating approximately 25 inches of deer.

The 87g Vmax having the same POI was important for us because Cody could practice alot with a cheaper bullet and he used that bullet to kill alot of coyotes/crows/groundhogs/targets. That practice makes him very lethal with this firearm and the 85g IB has done its job repeatedly.

Great bullet.

I use this bullet in my 240 wby mag and use it for most of my hunting of big game.
all i can say is it is a great bullet and has never failed me on any game.
Great bullet

Thanks for the specific information. This is very helpful and the kind of on hand experience I was
hoping to get. Thanks again...
