8 Twist 7MM Barrel

I have an 8 twist 7mm barrel I'd like to use for a 7mm stw project but I'm worried it will be too fast of a twist. I plan on only shooting 180 berger hybrids and 189 cauterucio's. Anyone know if this will work?

I bet when the 195 Berger becomes available they will work well.
The 180 Berger works in my 18" XP which is a 9" twist.
You may have to slow down the 180's a tad in your 8" but when those 195's
come out,look out

It'll work just fine. I have a couple 7mm dakotas. One has a 8.5" twist and the other is an 8" twist.

No problems with groups or bullets blowing up? What bullets are you shooting exactly? I'm being told it won't be accurate.

When I was doing my 280AI F Open build I corresponded with Kev77 on reamers etc. He advised to stick with a 1x9 twist. He had tried the 1x8 but lost ~ 50 fps over his 1x9s.

I've shot 180 hybrids and 180 vlds mostly. Never had one blow up. BUT I'm using a much shorter barrel and they aren't going as fast as you'll be able to push them.

How 'bout the rest of us. Or as my daughter used to say "yet me seeee, pwease". I'm also in the process of building a 7mm wildcat, at this point I'm leaning toward a 9" because I'll be shooting mostly 150's ot a max. of 168 +-. Thanks, Paul

1:9 will be perfect for 180 berger 162 amax work great too. I would not hold my breath for 195's

I did a 1-8 twist in a 7 mag with a 26" barrel and have had great results with the 180 VLD hunting bullets.
The 168's were over stabilized and horrible accuracy with them.
With the 180's though I have settled on a load of Retumbo powder, mag primers, and have a velocity of 2948' with an SD of 11.
Also well inside of MOA accuracy out to 500 yds so far.
