70 grain blits 6mm varmint bullets

i want to hunt ground hogs with these with my 6mm ppc rifle.they are a boat tail bullet.i have a 22 inch 1/14 twist barrel .what are your thoughts on these bullets.max range from where i hunt is about 300 yards.

Does Sierra still make the little 60 gr. HP? I never used them for what ya could call long range, but I vaporized a truck load of chucks with them out to 300ish yards. Also a few coyotes with no exit.

My most accurate load with them was the hottest in the old Speer #8 book, which was for Speer's 75 gr. HP. I figured it would be safe, but I ruined the primer pockets on twenty or thirty cases. jd

The SPEER #14 Manual Page 239 talks about using their 70 grain TNT bullets. I have a 6mm PPC with an sporter barrel and shoot the 6mm 70 grain TNT's in it with H322 powder. I'm really happy how it shoots.

I like the 70 gr TNTs too.

I've used 70 gr. Nos. BTs for many years taking hundreds of groundhogs with my 6mmAI Encore handgun. They are very violent on groundhogs. Killed them out to 400 yds. without problems.

Far as I know that Sierra 60 HP is still made. I bought a bunch of them not too long ago. And they're unbelievably accurate

I have a 6MM BR with a 14 twist. It doesn't like 70 gr bullets. You really need a faster twist. I did get some small groups with a 70BK bullet and a lighter load of Varget. Tricky to get aa 70 gr to shoot but it can be done. Not worth the time and money to figure it out. Some of my better groups were with a 55GR Nosler, 65 Berger, Barts 68 TM. 60 gr Sierra bullets are very good. I shoot 58GR Hornady VMax as my std GH hunting bullet. Cheap always in the store, Usually under ,400" groups.

65 and 68 gr bullet are what they shoot in competition with a 13.5 or 14 twist barrel.
