Has NRA ruled a mandatory 7 sec delay for E-Targets?
That was fast. Thanks Got the answer.Has NRA ruled a mandatory 7 sec delay for E-Targets?
Here you go - look it up - http://rulebooks.nra.org/documents/pdf/compete/RuleBooks/HPR/hpr-book.pdfCan you let the rest of us know?![]()
I can tell you that I have talked with at least one compeditor from Lodi that won an F-Open match that told me he shot his 20 shots for record in under 3 minutes. (I believe he told me under 2:30) If it was an X he didn't wait for the plot and launched another, if it was a 10 he waited. 200-13 or 14 X I think.
That is not the F class competition that I want, that is in fact "belly bench rest". I sincerely hope that in the future F class comps with E-targets do what ever is needed to make this a wind reading game and not a how fast can you shoot game.
Could not agree with you more Wade. I have yet to talk to a top F-class shooter who does not also agree. Bench rest is available for anyone who wants to shoot without delay. Let's keep F-class as a high power sport. The e-target rules need to be changed to make the 7 second (or greater) delay mandatory IMHO. Shot location and score should not be posted during the wait period and any shots during the waiting period should be recorded as misses....just like standard targets.I can tell you that I have talked with at least one compeditor from Lodi that won an F-Open match that told me he shot his 20 shots for record in under 3 minutes. So how do you deal with crossfires. The scorer will not be able to tell whose shot is whose. Having used E Ts for five years dealing with crossfires along the way a delay of any sort will cause untold trouble. Registration of the shot is the most important part of shooting not how fast the shooter is.
What he said, that's the purpose of the scorer....pay attention to the shooter and know when he fires. I would propose that e-target simply ignore shots that occur during the delay. The shooter who cross-fired will not have a shot show up on his target and the scorer knows he did shoot....it's a miss...just like standard targets. Shooter who was cross-fired on has no delay because no shot was recorded during the delay period....simply fire when your score is shown.Thats why, as a scorer, you are paying attention to your shooter. You will know if he fired or not.

Trust me, I would if I could.Get them to shoot Fullbore style, 2 or 3 shooters to a target, firing alternately. Then it becomes a wind reading game.
