7-6.5 PRC reamer

Looking for a gunsmith with a 7-6.5 PRC reamer with appropriate dimensions (5 to 6 thousands of neck clearance / freebore for 180gr class Berger bullets).

recommendations?

His requires neck turning.
I believe Mcgowen barrels is also making this round for hunting which is most likely non turn .005 clearance

The point of the 7-6.5 PRC was something Jay Christopherson and I worked on about 2 years back. He wanted to find something to beat the 284 in F Open. I have never really like the 284 case design but the capacity is good. I didn't want to increase case capacity much over the 284, which is why I didn't do the saum or improve the prc case. The 7-6.5 PRC is what I came up with with the same mods as the 284 Wheeler. It will run the Shehane node, 2930 ish. Lapua makes brass and it will last forever at that node. Feedback has been very promising so far. F class guys are a little more tight lipped about what they are up to but I expect you will start to see a lot more of these out there.

Which sizing die works with your chamber?

I like the idea of the 7-65prc the issue is always making sure the reamer matches up to a good set of dies. To be honest Alex I wish I could just buy it all directly from you. Thanks for all your help and improvements you doing in this industry.

I appreciate that. JGS does not give me a deal or kick back on reamers and I make 20 bucks on a die, I buy $2k worth and wait 6 months for them to eventually make 200 bucks on the whole batch over about a year. Its all a terrible investment. Its why I dont sell reamers or dies. I will supply a die with a build or chamber but thats because its part of the deal. Im still interested in this stuff so Im still wanting to push the limits and try more things. But at this point dies and reamers are zero profit to me. In fact its a loss because it costs me to figure the numbers out then you give that knowledge away, then answer questions about chambering and loading. What would happen if I did sell the stuff is Id have to mark it up over retail. Then someone would measure it, copy it, buy it direct and say I was gouging. So I just dont sell them.

Who believes Hornady is NOT going to at some point release a 7MM PRC that out performs the 284 with a overall better design. Could be a real or maybe slightly hyped improvement but new nonetheless not using either of the current PRC case designs. My money is they will but wildcatters will have fun in the meantime.

They are doing it but im not sure if they are doing it off of the 6.5 or 300 prc.
Go big or go home applies here IMO. Don't see any real good reason to build a small magnum 7PRC needing a magnum action when they can go Long with it offering a better performance design. Long neck design cartridge competing with the larger case magnums. Just not enough capacity to be much better than the .284 but needing a magnum action. Just my opinion. I CAN see them doing it off the 6.5 PRC case tho. They'd be some followers for sure.
