7-6.5 PRC F-CLASS !!!!!!!!!!

I also had to open up the Redding die I had...not much but still enough.
Im using Short Action Custom now and they are real nice.

Is there much of an advantage to changing from my 7 SAUM over to either the 7 PRC or 6.5/7 PRC? I'm shooting my SAUM at around 2925 with 180 class bullets and getting great accuracy until the barrel goes South. F-Open HM shooter. Is there reason to think I'd get better barrel life with either of the other two cartridges shooting at similar speeds? It seems that the only advantage might be ease of finding brass for the PRC's.
Thanks for any comments.

I don’t think you’d find much of a barrel life difference, probably some advantage for 7/6.5prc if running N165 (which it’s case capacity does fit that powder well) and 7PRC has more case capacity than saum so definitely no advantage there.

Is this cartridge the same as the 7fcp on this forum or is this just a 6.5prc with a 7mm bullet ?
The 7 PRCW is a 6.5 PRC with a 7mm bullet. Same 30 deg shoulder angle as the 6.5 PRC and headspaces the same.

The 7 FCP, is a 40 deg shoulder angle, shoulder moved forward. The 7 FCP has the same capacity as a 7 SAUM. The 7-6.5 PRC has the capacity of a 284 shehane, about 67.5-68 grains of water. Now after firing the 7PRCW has more capacity as they run about .005" body to chamber clearance so it gains a fair amount after firing and gets to about 69 grains of water. The 7 FCP before firing is 72 grains of H2O and is about 72.8 after firing.

My intentions were to make a prs rifle with this cartridge out of a Seekins HIT
Not sure if its a good idea or if it would feed from the center feed magazine.

Way too big for F Class in my opinion (and others I know). It’s a considerably larger case and is probably excessive to target shooters needs. But who knows, I’m sure we will see some on the line at some point…
Hey John I see that now that the 7-6.5prcw(69gr h20) has been out for a good while
And the 7LBB (h20 unkown guessing 70-71gr)(7-6.5prc shehan style improved) and with 300wsm Lapua brass im seeing this year people are looking at 7-300wsm and FCP have the 7BSM (75gr h20) (300wsm sholder push back to 40° and longer neck )
The 300wsm is around 79gr
The 7prc is around 80.5
The 7saum 72.5gr h20
H20 capacity based of Lapua or ADG brass For general idea

If people are doing a 7-300wsm it would be the same as a 7prc for h20 capacity just the wsm case is a little shorter
But the 7prc lapua brass or adg with a good reamer should compete with a 7-300wsm with the same

For pair fair type matches it may not do to bad.

Gary Costello won 2009 fopen wolds in Canada that would been Pair Fire with 7-270wsm

The 7saum done well at the V2 its a fair step up form that be still on the bigger side

Just wanted your thought

@Alex Wheeler would love to here your thoughts as well

I just built my 1st 7-6.5prcw and been 284 before that and started 1st f open with 280ai
Witch i dont think is a bad case for fopen

The 300wsm is around 79gr
The 7prc is around 80.5
The 7saum 72.5gr h20
Folks are trying everything these days to try and get an edge in the wind.
Sometimes they beat you up too much after the 3 Strings we do in one day, and several days later your re-evaluating your choices.....or not. To each his own.
Im happy with my choice and its easy to shoot. Just need to get better at reading wind and that's a slow process, but its getting better.
