I've been shooting a 7tw 6xc to use up the hornady 2nds 106tap bullets and this thing is a hoot. I killed a 1731yd coyote with it a couple weeks ago which beat my old record with my 260ai.

I have a 8tw in my lathe right now and I'm debating between punching it to 6-284 or making a shorter xc.

I have basically forgotten about my other rifles because this one is so fun.

There are way more small rifle primers on the market for better prices. I couldn't tell any difference.

I had a longer answer in an earlier thread this morning.

Short answer: either. I could tell no accuracy difference between LRP and SRP.

With the SRP, I had a hangfire and two dud rounds at a cold, early season match. Anymore, when I go to that one and it's cold out I keep the ammo in the vehicle until it needs to come to the line.

Again, other than the above, no difference.

In the infancy of the 6xc, there was no consistent supply of norma xc brass. Most formed brass from 22-250 brass, which was the original parent case. Some guys started forming brass from 243 and 308 brass. This lead to clickers and stuck cases, as the brass would be too tight at the base. This led to the revised 6xc2 reamer, which alleviates the problem.

Run it through the 6XC die, load and shoot. It's that easy.

Lube it good inside and out. You may get a mushroom where the body meets the shoulder. It will be gone and the case will be completely formed after the first firing. I usually shoot the first load standing or prone slowfire. Standing 35-36 gr H4350 and a 70 SMK. Prone 37-38 H4350 with a 107 SMK.

What’s the best, most versatile twist?

The 1-7.5 and 1-8 twist barrels, shoot "most" 80 to, 110 grain, Bullets for Long Range Shooting on, Steel / Targets and Deer / Antelope. ( 1-8 twist is probably, the Most Popular twist ).
If wanting to shoot, the 115 gr DTAC's try researching the, 1-7 or 1-7.5 twist for,.. Best results as,.. IDK
Some guys like, a 1-10 twist for, Lighter Bullets 65 gr. V-Max, 70 gr. Blitz King's, 87 gr V-Maxes up to, the 90 gr Berger, Classic Hunt's. ( small Varmints to, Deer / Antelope with, the 90's in, a 10 Twist )
Pick "Your",.. Poison ! Some of, the 6 XC Shooters,.. HAVE,.. Both Twist, barrels !
My 1-7.5 twist, "Hammers" everything from, 80 gr Berger, Varm't / Target FB bullets to, 107 SMK's and 108 gr. Elite Hunter, Berg's. ( I haven't tried, the 110 SMK's But think that, they should Be "fine", in my Rifle ).

My 16 y/o grandson shot my, L V, 10.5 lb., Braked, 6 XC Home made, "Rem-Age" 700 Rem "Lefty' with, 107 grain, SMK's at 700 yards at, an 8 inch Diameter, steel Plate and he Hit 5, in a Row !
He said " NICE Trigger pull, grandpa" ( he liked, the Sub 1 Pound, Jewell trigger ! )
I Love watching my grandsons,.. Shoot / Hunt !

Try the Hornady 75 grain, BTHP Match, #2279 Bullet as seem to be, "better than" the ELD-M's, in SOME Rifles.
Yup,. either of, the 4350's or, StaBall 65, is your "Huckleberry",.. Powder !

7.5 twist if you want to shoot 115s . 8 twist works fine for 107 and less.

Never checked it before but easy to find out. The excellent Peterson 6XC brass is .468" at the web - .200" line. My 6-250 brass is also excellent 22-250 PMC necked up.....it's. .462" at the .200", web, mark. That's way too small to be expanding to current 6XC specs. That Peterson brass from Tubb is visually much larger than a 22-250 case. And larger than a 6-250AI would be. It's beautiful and just perfect.

I have tried making it, and bought Norma, Petersen. I use Large primer and prefer the Norma brass. I have built 8 rifles in 6XC still have 2 o them.

Funny. My buddy has been shooting his old Remington brass he had in bags in his Tubb chamber and they fireform just fine.
