6XC target loads

I have a light recoiling load using 95gr SMK's and 37.4gr of Hybrid 100V powder, loaded to 2.665" OAL in Peterson Brass in a Tubb chamber. It's not as light recoiling as a 6BR, but it's notably lighter recoil than full power 105/107/112/115 bullet loads for long line.

I'm also using StaBall 6.5 in my current 6XC barrel, but I haven't tried any light bullet loads with it.
Good Luck,
Ross

If your shooting 105-107 class bullets, you should have a low node in the range of 38.5gr of H4350. High nodes and ones I shoot at 1K are in the 39.5gr range (give or take a couple tenths). I currently have 4 - 6XC's and each loads are 39.6,39.5,39.7 and 39.4. I've had two others that were at 39.6 & 39.8 shooting 107 Match Kings. All were winning barrels, 1-8 twist and all had lower accuracy nodes about 1 grain less. The lowest (39.4) is a .237 bore, the others are .236 bore

38.5 would do well at short range (under 500), but will fall apart at 1000.

I'm looking for a low node and you have one. I simply don't need velocity for 200.
Have you tried any lighter bullets?

I haven't, only because my bench guns were built for the 1000 yard game. Lighter bullets wouldn't serve me well in that discipline. I have shot several of my guns in local 100-600 yard matches, just to try. Very large 10 rings, I think they used IBS 300 targets and I shot clean scores and won those matches. Local "fun" matches and I was one of those "custom" gun guys, lol. Not for me, but obviously my tuned 1K load is going to work at those distances. It's a bit overkill in that crowd.

I'm sure someone on here that uses the XC for hunting critters would have a load for lighter bullets. Walt may have pointed you in the right direction, if you want to use a 68-70 grain class bullet. I have no data outside 105-115gr bullets for my style of shooting.

Keep in mind the wind was blasting 15 mph and shifting from full value to tail. Super tough shooting here.

rl-23 or h4350, 37-40gr, 108 ELD or 115 DTAC, jump .020-.040, 2750-3000fps. I've found it pretty hard to get a bad load but long jumps seem to uniformly not be helpful.

The 80 grain, Sierra BTSP Varmints and the 80 gr. Berger, F. Base Varmints, BOTH, shoot very WELL with, 41.3 to 41.5 grs of, IMR 4350 & CCI Primers with, .025 off on the Bergers and .040 of, "Jump" with the Sierra's in my, 1-7.5 twist, 6 XC at, 3,100 FPS.
Both are, Tangent Ogive Bullets ( NOT too Fussy ) and LIKE,.. some, "Jump" !
PAST 200 yards,.. I like the 95 gr, Classic Hunters with, 41.0 grs of, Staball 65 at .050 Jump !
Load Clocks, 3,075 FPS out of, my 24" bbl'd, 6 XC.
68's and 70 grain Bullets "should" work, in a 1-8 Twist !

Good Luck and HAVE,. Fun !

Don't know, what happened !
I was starting to type,.. Have Fun and good luck and the stupid THING, went Crazy on me,.. LOL !
Tried to fix it,.. but, obviously, I'm NOT,.. a Tekkie !
Sorry guys ! But those Loads / Bullets, "shoot" in, the .2's and .3's !

With 2 older OTC rifles I have repurposed to varmints, 37 grains of H4350 with a 75 and 87 gr. V-Max or 80 and 88 gr. Berger shot great. Really couldn't tell the difference in bullets or groups out to 200 yds. Simple and easy to load high volume ammo that is easy on barrels.

Third time, trying to FIX my Post, above ^^^^
Now, I'm saying "fug It", I give up,.. I'm,.. DONE !
As, this Tekkie Chit is, WAY above,.. my "Pay Grade" as an old, Retiree.

I've shot 68, 70, 75, 80, and 85gr bullets from 9, 10, & 12tw 6xc's. From my experience 4895 is Ok, R15 is surprisingly good as is R16. 4064 is very good as well. About the only one I've tried that was so so was 4320.

Accuracy out of the 10 & 12 tw with the 80gr Sierra Blitz bullet and the 85gr Sierra HPBT was really good with 4064, R16 and WW760. I agree with the other posters on H4350 is a great powder for the 6xc and may be the best choice if you are shooting a 7-8tw but I have no experience with the lighter bullets from an 8tw. WD

I have an 8tw and have found some 90gr Bergers to try with my H4350.
