Ruger Precision Rifle 6XC rebarrel?Recommendat

I am looking to rebarrel my 6.5 Creedmoor RPR to 6XC. I’m looking for less recoil in order to spot my shots better as well as accuracy at these ranges. Shooting 300-600 yards only. I’m looking at a Kreiger SS barrel, 26”, 1-7.5 twist, 4 groove cut-rifling (2.37/2.43”) and a 6XC CIP chamber. Any pros or cons anyone can think of for this barrel for this use? Recommendations for bullets/loads for 600 yd. F-class use? Thanks for your time and insight.

Just curious - why berger 105 vlds rather than the 105 hybrids?

According to the Berger site the VLD has a slightly higher BC than the Hybrid. .545 vs .536.

Don't overlook the 110SMK. G1 bc of .591 and shoots really well out of the last XC that I built.
26" proof barrel
Norma Brass
CCI #200
40.5gr R-16
Velocity = 3070fps single digit ES

This load is stupid accurate in my rifle.

Anything ‘special’ about a CIP chamber vrsus SAAMI chamber since CIP is European standard?

Yes, the SAAMI chamber doesn't exist, 6XC is not a SAAMI standardized cartridge. That makes the CIP chamber special, since it does exist. You can get a longer freebore than the CIP standard and still mag feed. I went with a .120 freebore.

Just looking for a softer (more enjoyable) cartridge to shoot. I don’t shoot competitively yet and IF I were to compete it would be only in F-class up to 600 yards. I didn’t want people suggesting different options for longer ranges or things like group shooting versus shooting for score. Just looking to enjoy myself shooting/competing against my wife. We both shoot RPR’s in 6.5 CM with 1800+ rounds each on barrels. Still shooting 0.6 MOA at 200 on factory barrel. Just looking for a change.

As Don stated above Kreiger chambers RPR pre-fit drop-in barrels in 6XC. Order today and have it in 2-4 days.

Thanks for the responses so far ... anybody else?

I've been around the block with 6mm's over the last 3 yrs, comp match, slr, creedmoor, I still shoot 2 xc's, and not much else even though I will take possession of a new Dasher build this week.

Same as Milo
I've been thru a lot of 6mm's chamberings and 6mmXC is my choice I revert back to. 6br is awesome just not magazine friendly most of the time. 6xc is so dang easy to load for...38.0-39.5gr H4350 on a 107smk soft seated in the lands +.007 and I promise you there will be 1 if not 2 accuracy windows there

6XC, DTAC115 RBT, 40g H4350, approx. 3000fps, Krieger 1:8 28 inch barrel, special reamer print for the DTACs which DTUBB can give you or I can. Shoots lights out to 1000 yds.

I run a The Firm built 6xc in prs comps. I've got it down to es of 3 sd of 1. 110 SMKs. 40.5gr h4350. Wolf primers. 2960 fps 24 in 7 twist proof steel barrel. I'll never run anything but an xc from now on.

I have built four 6XC's for myself over the last 15 years and shot out a lot of barrels it is a fantastic round and a great design. I hot rodded one and ran it for part of one season and the node was 3150 with 108 Bergers! that barrel shit the bed at 900 rounds, but for a good barrel life I had to keep it down around 2950 to 2975 fps I can accomplish that with my BRX which I feel is a little easier to tune using less powder and seem to have a decent Barrel life, feeds and runs like a dream in my tactical rifle

If you are only shooting 300-600 yds, any BR based case is the ticket. Low recoil, minimal powder to get the job done, and outstanding accuracy. You will get tired of shooting Xs (well not really). Brass lasts forever as well.

XC is a great cartridge but if you are shooting 105-107 wt bullets, the BR case gets it done just as well, costs less to run, and bbl life is at least another 1000 rds.
