6XC Mag Feeding

Hello, I have a couple of questions:

I am wanting to build either a 6XC or 6-250. I am not a competitor and do not shoot over a couple hundred yards. A couple of gents are really taken with the XC, but I am leaning more toward the 6-250 because I think it will feed more reliably.

The question is, will the 6XC feed from an unmodified Rem 700 mag?

Also, if given a choice (regardless of magazine feeding), which would you want and why?

Thank you for your responses.

I dont know anyone shooting an XC in a Rem box mag, but I have shot and have a lot of friends that shoot XC's and they feed very reliably out of AI mags and.......well every detachable style mag I have seen(mostly AI or AI clones and Tubb's rifles). I personally shoot 6x47L and 6.5x47L, which are very similar in dimensions(little shorter) to the XC and they feed just as well as anything I have ever seen or used.

That being said, I dont see why they wouldn't feed in Rem box mag .

I'm shooting a plain Remington 700 that I re-barreled in 6XC just for ground hog and coyote control it feeds 105 A-max bullets 1st time, every time.
I hope this helps,

I have been planning to do something very similar for about a year. The plan has slipped, but the intention in 2013 is to have a rifle set up as above. Regards JCS

Ditto on the above. As long as you don't exceed the OAL of the magazine, ya should be good to go.

Mine is a 6xc with a 10 twist shooting mostly 75gr Vmax. No issues at all. Also, have a partner that is shooting a 6-250 in a 700 Rem. No issues at all with his either. WD
