6x47 SM RUAG Brass ORDER info

I e-mailed Corbin Shell and asked if he had 6x47 brass and if so what would be the price/100. He answered that he had plenty of 6x47 brass and none of it was for sale.

As stated elsewhere you can order DIRECT from Ruarg by meeting their MINIMUM order requirement of 1000 cases. I'm happy to furnish the contact at the factory if needed. Split the order between 2 or 4 like-minded shooters and the frustration is over?:)

Hi

Never did get the chance to go to a shooting shop when I was in Germany to get my hands on some 6x47 SM brass.

My question is, how are people getting on with the brass??

In particular, people in Australia?

I am very interested in persuing this caliber.

Thanks
AI

People in Australia are forming the brass from the .222 magnum cases and calling it the 6x47.
I would be very intrested in seeing a dimensional drawing of the 6x47sm.
The reloaders bench haven`t got their dimentional drawings back up yet www.reloadbench.com wonder if they are close.

Bob the 6x47 is not the same as the 6x47SM the SM stands for swiss match it is a completly different animal the other 6x47 is a 6mmx222remington magnum as most people know i think a lot of people are getting confused the 6x47SM is basicaly a 47mm long 6mmBR or a short 6mmXC i hope this clears up problems people are having trying to sourt out the difference in there head
Cheers Bill
Australia

Yes Bill i am aware of the difference and have a barrel here that is chambered for the 6x47 made on 222 magnum case.
And don`t intend to use it, it came with another project and is just a short test barrel.
If i do anything it will be rechambering my Sako Forrester .243 to 6xc. and use my .243 brass reformed.

This 6x47 Swiss Match seems to be very elusive....

Has anyone out there have one they could send to me??? Will pay postage etc...

And again.... Any Aussie's using it?? Im figuring no at this time!

Thanks

Just reading the 20 Cal write up for this week and see that they are useing the 222magnum cases for the .204 so now anyone wanting to make a 6 X 47 has a new source of brass just neck up 204 brass. And yes i know it isnt the Swiss Match but got to be close.

Bob

No, not even close. There is a lot of confusioin over these two cartridges. They are not even remotely the same except for the name.

Ray

Oh well never mind but i bet someone is going to neck it up to 6mm anyway just to give it a try hahaha.
Once you get the bug its hard to just leave things alone.

I have mailed, faxed and tried to telephonically contact Ruag - no response. I think they are simply not interested in doing business with the individual, even those who are prepared to order 1000 brass. Can anyone refer me to an agent or dealer in either Switzerland, France or England who will stock the brass?
Cheers
Chris

Chris,

Check out the latest blog on the home page. Lapua is releasing a 6.5x47. I talked with the product development engineer Tommi Tuuri tonight. They are still experimenting with powders and primer sizes, big vs. small). But hopefully the brass should be available by the end of the year. Tommi promised some kind of diagram--if the Lapua lawyers let him send it to me. Stay tuned.

Special Thanks to Chris Roets, Namibia. I have Been in contact with a number of people on this 6x47 SM Brass today, still no good answers yet, but I am getting closer. Graeme Clarke Great Britan is a supplier for Ruag, But no reply from Him yet. Also as another note, I talked to Keltron Petibone, USA distributor for Lapua, Vhita Vouri, Norma... They don't expect any shippments of the new Lapua Brass 6.5X 47mm until late next year...

maybe pete lincoln at www.roedaleprecision.com,at least i think that is the website, do a search if it is not) might be able to help.

he is a british riflesmith based in germany and maybe able to obtain/supply/export the brass in question...

Hi

This to again confirm that it is possible to purchase virgin 6X47 Swiss Match cases direct from Ruag,Aerospace Defence Technology) although I would acknowledge we are, in this instance, talking Switzerland to London and not New York.

A recent e-mail from 6mmbr prompted me to consider the further purchase of another 1000 cases to squirrel away 'just in case'. You just never know when a change in production etc may result in an inferior product coming from a plant. Clearly this has been known to happen with shooting related kit!

Once I had found the original e-mail and contact name at Ruag I mailed my request but heard nothing by way of a reply for over a week. I began to worry until this morning when I received an invoice with full breakdown of costs. ,I understand cases will be dispatched once payment is received.)

Total cost was 640,EUR), forty EUR being the shipping,to the UK).

The contact I have at Ruag sales is: erich.luethi@ruag.com

Hope this works for anyone desperate to start experimenting with this fine case. One thousand,1000) cases seems to be the minimum order and I just can't see why Ruag would not wish to dispatch to the US unless there is some major obstacle in terms of negotiating customs/import procedures. After all it is the purchaser picking up the tab for shipping and not Ruag.

Please do not e-mail the above Ruag contact unless your inquiry is serious.

Cheers

Thats odd, you would think if you could garauntee a large order..not just 1k of brass but lets say 100k they would at least talk to you.

I am sure if some venture capitalist wanted to they could turn a profit by adding 20% over their costs for 100k of brass.

Post it a few websites and watch it fly off the shelves.

RHINOUT!

Based on what Lapua tells me, shipping brass to the US requires an importer with an import license that specifically names the product. That's one reason for the delay with the 6.5x47 Lapua brass--it will take 2 months or more to get the paperwork in place even though Lapua already has a distributor here.

As for 100,000 Cases of the 6x47, David Tubb figured his cost would be very close to $800/1000 delivered to his warehouse. Re that 20% markup... not many businesses would pony up $80,000 cash for the opportunity to MAYBE make $16,000 if you sell every darn piece with zero returns etc.

And how many folks are willing to pay $96 per hundred at retail? Bottom line, that's why David came up with his own 6XC brass.
