6x45 Questions

So I’ve made a deal on a 6x45 REM bolt action to shoot up my old leftover PPC bullets. So am I right in thinking I can take new .223 brass and run it thru my K&M 6mm expanding mandrel and would be ready to load after my brass finishing technique? Thanks in advance for advice with this new to me caliber! Happy New Year to all!

NEW Unfired brass, probably with, NO problems !
Run one Test case with bullet ( No Primer / powder ) thru action and Chamber to be,. SURE that Bolt closes, tho

When I was shooting mine I would make one pass through the sizing die, load and shoot.
Laser beam with 90gr. Sierra's and IMR 4895.

When I got my first 6-223,
FL small base if fired 223 die
Ran it over a generic 6mm neck die
If I recall I used a 6BR seating die, RCBS gold medal

Did that for a while till I acquired proper die set

Yes just run through and open up the necks. When you chamber a loaded round might be a snug bolt close till it fires to your chamber. On mine i take and use a body die to f/l the body, then i open up the neck. After first firing they fit better.

What seating die will you use? I think a 223 seat die may be able to, or may apply a generous crimp in the seating process. Otherwise, yup; make a dummy round after expanding and make sure it'll chamber.

Thanks guys for all the input this place is the best folks always willing to help out! As for the dies I don’t have a set yet I’m looking at the RCBS small base there about the best value but I’ll look here in the classifieds first! Thanks fellows!

You might put up a WTB ad. One or two of us may have something gathering dust, or a spare. 6TCU will work as a seating die.

I sold my 6X45 bolt Remington few yrs back sorry I didn’t keep it. When using 223 brass 2X fired I found it very beneficial to anneal before expanding case neck to 6mm I used Redding wax on 22 bore mop before expanding. I had my 223 RCBS die neck opened up to 6mm so expanding and resized in one stroke. If you’re interested in my die I would be willing to part with it. Let me know?

I sold you my 6X45 die a while back to you. I came across some brass I had prepped new brass not fired would you be interested ? Necks annealed expanded to 6mm X45
