6X44BR

Please excuse me if Ive posted this before. Too old to remember. Anyhow Im mentally(?) developing a 6C to 1K rifle on the less expensive route. Ive a point blank Stolle and Im thinking about installing a 26-28" barrel, 1:8.5" twist, 6mm. The chamber to be , my old favorite, 6 X44. This is larger capacity than the stubby BRs, but not pouring as much smoke down the bore as some of the bigger burners. Brux seems to be an attractive brand and I hope Berger or Sierra has a matching projectile, 100+gr. Any opinions on this idea. The twist may be a tad slow , perhaps a 1:8" would be better.

Rogn -

Howdy !

Broughton makes a great 6mm barrel w/ " 5-C" ( canted ) rifling.

Mine broke-in w/ one shot, and cleans w/o having to use a brush.

Other great choices abound.

As for the 6X44 chambering... will you only be shooting paper, or do you also have live varmint shots on your mind ?

Paper will be the primary use but we have an abundance of crows. we now are on the edge of groundhog expansion onto the eastern shore. :)
