6PPC targets from Junes UBR match

I have quit testing and just shoot on match day,,after forming brass and shooting 3 matches this 13.5 twist Krieger has 480 rounds on it,,shooting 68 gr FB bullets and 28.6 grs LT32 ,,shot 494 first match in over a year then 506 last month and 503 today,,,,I gotta get better at 200 to get out of 2nd place,,but I am having more fun just shooting one day a month in a match than I was shooting ever day here at home,

targets,,good for 2nd at 100,200 and the agg in Custom

Great shooting but I'm a little confused. Is the second set of targets for 200 yards? They look the same size as the first set which I assume are 100 yard targets. I thought the 200 yard targets were larger.

the 2nd targets are 200 and are twice as big as the 100 yard,,just the way the pics turned out,,I know that dot looks small at 200 yards,,
Thanks, thought I was going blind. Anyway great shooting. You need to get down to Brock's Gap in Birmingham. We shoot a UBR match on the 3rd Sat. of every month. Unfortunately we don't have the distance for 200 yards. We shoot factory, modified, custom and unlimited so you get to shoot two matches. First shot is fired at 9 am and we are usually finished before noon. Hope you can make it sometime.

what do you do shoot 2 100 yard matches ??

Yes, two 100 yard matches. Can't shoot the same class twice. I shoot custom and unlimited, some shoot modified and custom or factory and modified, etc. Whatever your gun or guns will fit into.

I could shoot Custom and UL but it`s hard for me to get off work 2 Saturdays a month,,
Keep us in mind if the opportunity arises. A lot of the shooters from TN come down and shoot in the winter after the matches are over up north. We shoot year around.

Its hard to get better if you dont compete right? It forces you to shoot maybe when you wouldnt normally and overcome adversity. Keep up the good work!!

exactly,,,I could sit here at home and shoot 11`s till the cows come in,,but it doesnt do me any good it seems,,I think I could get better quick if I could go shoot a match ever w/e but I cant afford the travel and taking off work ever Saturday,so I will leave the rifle in the safe till next month and hope I can keep getting better ,,,it took me a long time to figure out there is nothing wrong with the load or the rifle and the scope seems good,,just need to focus and not do stupid crap like the last shot on the first target at 100 yards,,that should have been an 11,,and in that crowd 1 point can take you 5-6 places down the line,,

I don't know Mr. B. This kinda' like the "less filling" vs "great taste," or "thrown" vs "weighed" arguments. I've always tried to get a practice session between Matches, or maybe once a week if there are no Matches for a while. This is especially true at the start of the season. Once we've had a few Matches and it warms up, it (practice) is not as important as it was earlier. Also by then, I have a "go to load" which can be kept in tune with a (Mike) Ezell tuner.

On the upside practice keeps me focused and my muscle memory fresh. Its downside is exactly what you said in the opening sentences, " . . . doesn't do me any good . . . " I've lost count of the number of times I've driven home from a super practice session just loaded for bear. Three days later I'm kicking my a$$ all the way home from a Match where I stunk it up, some hard!

All else being equal and assuming no equipment problems (unanticipated malfunctions), or improbable events (bore brush bristle stuck on the bolt face), what the Hell happened to that super accurate rifle-load combo? Great question and as many answers as people you ask. I do know that if you pick a day with mild conditions to practice you'll shoot some great targets, but when you get to the next Match and the conditions are tough, you'll struggle.

I take 120 rounds to a match and I been shooting in the mid 90`s,,so I have 24-26 rounds left over,,I will shoot those for group 2-3 days before next match and if it looks good I will just load it all back and go to the match,,so far this year I havent changed the charge weight or the seat depth or anything,,

it may blow up in my face but it`s shot well from the snow day in April at 27* till the June match that was pretty warm and muggy,,

Congrats on some great shooting. Placing at or near the top is something anywhere UBR shoots are held. That's always a tough crowd and those guys are there to win!
