6ppc powder

I know there has been several post lately about the ppc, however I have a few more questions …
I purchased some n133 to run in it, but than I see people talking about n133 being temp sensitive … is it? How bad?

I might add I’m using mine for in formal at home paper punching… plus some varmint hunting…

Next question..

I see charge weights many are posting around 28-29 gr for 65gr bullets…
Both my reloading books with the ppc in them only show like 24-25 gr?

The Vit manual lists N-133 with a 68 gr bullet a max of 28.2. This is for the USA version in a Sako I believe.

The ppc has a very wide variation in chamber reamers and is most custom. The Sako USA chamber is probably the largest chamber dimensions you will find for this cartridge.

So as with all loading manuals, none are absolute! But most all are sure bets for giving you a safe starting load!

Use the book starting load, go up slow, one thing is a positive sign you are going to high is a stiffer bolt lift, pay attention to the effort from load to load opening the bolt.

I would never rely on how your primers look. Naturally if you see craters your particular gun has all it should be pushed to! But even if you see catered primers, this could simply be from bolt issues such as, to light of firing spring strength, large firing pin hole in bolt with undersized firing pin, to sharp of firing pin point, or I have seen safe pressure loads have pierced or blanked primers from to much protrusion. But primers are not something I would rely on for pressure signs!

My Bat BR action shows nice looking rounded primers, even in loads I know exceed 60,000 cup's. So start low, work up in two tenths of a grain intervals, and you should be safe till you start noticing a change in effort to lift your bolt on a fired round.
