6mmX47 die update

I just talked to the folks at Redding dies.....Pat,x-225)to be specific....they are tooling up now to make dies in 6.5 mm X 47 ONLY !!! He said once an interest in other cal wildcat versions of the original basic 6.5mm version was expressed they,Redding) would begin production of dies in all configurations such as body,seater,sizer--both neck and full length type S,,,so we as a shooting community need to let them know that there is and will be a big demand for all of the various versions of the original CIP 6.5mmX47 version of the ctg....for our own good everyone interested from gunsmiths to consumer should contact Redding,607-753-3331)and let them know of our plans to compete with various 22-6mm-30cal versions of this new ctg design.and as stated before by some of the reamer folks and knowlegable gunsmiths...keep it simple,,dont change shouder angle,,,dont change body taper,,,dont change anything but the cal....it is a great design just as is...dont try and make it work in or fit chambers of various design such as Swiss Match,,RUG,,Tubb,,etc...these folks have good ideas...this one is better,,dont try and fix earlier mistakes with newer ones!!!!So that the manufacturing community of reamers and dies ...can make us the parts and products we need that will interchange and make the brass fit and work in our chambers........Roger

I emailed Redding about 6x47 Lapua dies the other day!
This was the reply:
Hi Joe.

Thank you for your interest in Redding Reloading Equipment. We’re receiving quite a few inquiries about the 6 X 47 LAPUA, so we may decide to offer dies. We’ll have Type S Bushing Full Length, Type S Bushing Neck Sizing, body and Competition Seating Dies available soon for the 6.5 X 47 LAPUA. The first three dies should work for the 6MM version.

Regards,

This is great news about the interest from shooters for the 6X47 Lapua. Looks like they really only need a comp seating die. Has anyone built a rifle yet around the 6X47 configuration? And if they have can they share with us their results so far?
Thanks, shcal.

Robert Whitley has wildcatted one already, and Rich Beginski, see Gunsmith list) built one last week.

Hi a Redding 6mmBR competition seating die works perfectly they just contact on the shoulder and align well. You can also have the body reamed with your chamber reamer of get a forster seater.

The ones we are building we have advised the costermers to get a 6.5X47 Lapua Type S bushing Full length sizing die and use a bushing for 6mm like .267 and get a 6mm BR comp seater and they are good to go.
