Thank you Lapua

I posted this on BR central and thought it was appropriate for here also...
thank YOU Lapua

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been using Lapua ctg. brass since it first came to America in the 90's!!!??? It is the best in the world, correct me if im wrong!!!) ...I shoot several different "disciplines" from true "B"enchrest to 600-1000yd Benchrest to just plain ole plinkin al-la Keith...for Prarie dogs, ground hogs etc...
I have migrated to using only calibers that have Lapua brass available for them or Lapua brass that can be used to make the cal.,wildcated) from...
I aplaud Lapua for their rescent production of 6.5mmX47 Lapua....which will be used to make various cal wildcats ...from .22 to .30 for certain....I have a 6mm and a .30 cal version in the works as we speak,,,,and I dont even have any brass yet.....there have been some brought to this country by folks that have traveled to Europe and some are in Australia being measured by shooteres there...!!!!
There is one thing that is noteworthy about this new brass ...other than its obvious good quality.....THERE ARE NO RIFLES IN THE WORLD IN THESE CALIBERS....!!!!!!!!!!! Except those early prototypes and those under construction,,such as mine)) ....Lapua has listened to the shooters of the world...not just the USA....and have come up with a case that is just the right volume ...with the right primer pocket and flash hole...and of obvious Lapua metalurgical standards ...so that it can be used to fill a niche in the shooting community,,world))....this effort has taken much time on the drawing board,,in the lab,,at the ranges,,lots of trials and testing by shooters that are not affiliated with Lapua))...and they are makeing brass at their factory and shipping it aruound the world and it is being bought as soon as it hits the warehouse floor like the prize commodity that it is....
I dont know who had the insight or clout to acomplish this feat ...but I and the shooting world appluaud YOU>>>...
I am not a significant shooter or any one of much worth in the Benchrest community...not a Tony or a Bill...but I see one more area that I hope someone with infuence will adress.....The 30 cal magnum area.....I am disalbled with a bad back and have had heart surgury and asbestos lungs....so I cant cary one of the BIG 30 mags....but I must admit ...I think that there is an area here if Lapua would make a 300 H&H or Weatherby case ....it would also sell like wild fire and be a tremendous service to the shooting world....
I have plans to shoot a 6 X 47 in various short range and long range events in the near future....I have had reasonable rusults with a 11 lb. gun in both LG and HG events at long range and in point blank events as well....If I had my health and was 25yrs younger I would be shooting somethnig in 30cal mag....big and heavy.....but there are many shooters struggling with various wildcats on weird metric and oddball american brass that would have their delima solved with the production of this .30 Lapua mag brass....cluld be 30 degree shoulder and good long neck right out of the box!!!! Maby this shooters dream will come true someday....just hopeing that the movers and shakers in the Benchrest community can get the marvelous results in this pursuit as they have did so well with the 6.5X47 Lapua.....this aint no 30-06.that you can go to wal mart and get shell for.it is a class of ctg
obviously needed ...shown by its immediate and overwhelming acceptance by shooters wanting brass of that particular configuration and quality...the various other,,6X47 SM-RUAG or what ever--and even the 6XC are plagued with brass quality and availablility issues)) ctgs couldnt deliver...It was a brave move to put into production a brass that is so "novel" in this age of bean counters and marketing stratagies...I am also hopeing that someone at Lapua will realize how much we need good 30 cal magnum brass...which IMHO would be welcomed with open arms by many in the shooting community..without their superior brass in all cal.s ...especially .220 Russian...there would be a dark cloud over this lil shooters world...if I had to go back to shooting Rem brass I would take up golf.....what a waste of good land that culd be used for a shooting range..!!!!

WRONG!!!
Rifles chambered for 6x47 SM and 6.5x47 are mostly sold in Europe, and are used for 300 meter position shooting, or International Free Rifle. You probably have never heard of Bleiker or Grunig & Elmiger, but these are who are making the rifles. Due to the low production volume, and the unfavorable exchange rate, starting prices for new rifles in the US are in excess of $4500 - see http://www.nealjguns.com/ss_store/HighPowerand300Meter.html .

RUAG has been producing 6x47SM ammunition prior to 2001. The difficulty of obtaining brass, and its cost, once fired brass is $35/100 from Neal Johnson), along with other factors lead to Lapua developing the 6.5x47, as well as David Tubb's 6XC. Norma is producing brass for the latter.

From Lapua's website,http://www.lapua.com/newproducts1.html):
We are proud to introduce the novelty cartridge 6.5x47. We developed it in close cooperation with one of world’s leading sport rifle manufacturers, Swiss Grünig & Elmiger AG, for serious long-range target shooting.

I just talked to the folks at Redding dies.....Pat,x-225)to be specific....they are tooling up now to make dies in 6.5 mm X 47 ONLY !!! He said once an interest in other cal wildcat versions of the original basic 6.5mm version was expressed they,Redding) would begin production of dies in all configurations such as body,seater,sizer--both neck and full length type S,,,so we as a shooting community need to let them know that there is and will be a big demand for all of the various versions of the original CIP 6.5mmX47 version of the ctg....for our own good everyone interested from gunsmiths to consumer should contact Redding,607-753-3331)and let them know of our plans to compete with various 22-6mm-30cal versions of this new ctg design.and as stated before by some of the reamer folks and knowlegable gunsmiths...keep it simple,,dont change shouder angle,,,dont change body taper,,,dont change anything but the cal....it is a great design just as is...dont try and make it work in or fit chambers of various design such as Swiss Match,,RUG,,Tubb,,etc...these folks have good ideas...this one is better,,dont try and fix earlier mistakes with newer ones!!!!So that the manufacturing community of reamers and dies ...can make us the parts and products we need that will interchange and make the brass fit and work in our chambers........Roger
